Still trying to get this browser to stop opening as a default and use Chrome! The stock version sucks.
Voice also froze the unit and from there, it had a tough time keeping up so I went to the top right and closed everything out. I then thought of the "old days" when we used task managers so I downloaded one and now it's running much better. I suspect the CPU and RAM are not up to par but I'm still happy with how I use it. (you just can't treat it like a late model phone) Might have to root it if updates stop.

Hi guys!
Has anyone tried to install apps from Google Play directly to the MicroSD card instead of internal memory? How to move or install the apps on MicroSD card? |

You would need to go into SETTINGS>MORE SETTINGS>APPS then scroll to the app then MOVE TO SD card. It only moves part of the app and never worked to my satisfaction. Haven't tried on this unit specifically except maps and where they get stored.

Wondering if there is a way for it to have apps auto launch at bootup. I would love if i got in the car and started it, and by the time the screen booted up, Waze (or whatever navigation) and spotify are loaded up instead of manually having to open them. Still looking for the developer password in settings if anyone knows what it is. |

Went back to the old reliable ATK (Advanced Task Killer) but as you probably know, some still have to be manually closed under SETTINGS>MORE SETTINGS>APPS>SCROLL TO APP>FORCE STOP. This greatly improved the performance. As for your auto boot for apps, check this -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...utostart&hl=en

Carplay works pretty good. When using carplay you can’t have sound from carplay and idrive it’s one or the other. I prefer music through android as the experience in the apps is better

Agree. Bluetooth I don't use either. Stock car Bluetooth for phone and I use Spotify for music via android app.

Developer Options / Root Tweaks
I've got the X3 version (8.8" screen ). I discovered that you can view developer options with an app / shortcut (must be a bug with the ROM). App is below:
Developer Options: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d..._options&hl=en Haven't played much with the developer options. Just reduced window animation to 0.5x and had to disable USB debugging to allow Spectrum TV to work. I've also rooted it with Kingroot to allow some mods. If you've never rooted before then this probably isn't the product to test with. Better to test it with an older tablet / phone first since rooting can cause issues if you modify the system too much / cause it to get locked in a loop. Kingroot: https://forum.xda-developers.com/and...x-5-0-t3107461 Kingroot has alot of ad-ware and is another app developed in China. So...it's best to remove it after installation with Super-Sume Pro. This replaces Kingroot with SuperSu which is very stable / no ads / malware: Super-Sume Pro ($3.99): https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rsumepro&hl=en From there, I've installed Xposed which allows some mods: Xposed Installer: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xpo...gelog-t2714053 -- App Settings (xposed module) -- This allows you to change font size / DPI and select an immersive (e.g fullscreen) mode for specific apps (e.g. Waze). I'm using home2 shortcut to map a double-tap of the menu button to Google Voice Search: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...shortcut&hl=en Then using Route Selector (Xposed Module) to allow any GPS app to be selected with Voice Search. Reboot Manager -- allows you to reboot the device: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tmanager&hl=en Ad-Away -- Block Ads (needs root) -- https://adaway.org/ Still needs some work and I'm trying to improve performance. Hopefully someone can add some additional tweaks / build on what I've found. Last edited by jmoney99; 09-13-2017 at 10:37 PM.. |

For the apps I don't need, I just go into the Apps list in settings and disable them. This way they won't get updated nor run at starts up. This won't work for system app though and I'll play around with AutoStart to see if things can be optimized further.

I second that! Thanks for taking the time to share your tips, you had already done the things I was only thinking of doing and then some! (forgot about the AD removal, had no clue Home2Shortcut existed, haha)
EDIT: I am up to Xposed (rooted, kingroot gone) and the install has gone fairly smoothly. Recommendation to others: Do NOT keep other apps running while opening Kingroot to avoid issues! Can confirm Super-Sume Pro is nothing short of AWESOME and thanks again to @jmoney99 for that info! (Kingroot is always a biotch to remove) I should've taken the whole day off for this haha. Home2Shortcut is nothing short of awesome but this showed me how bad the performance really is:/ I hit home twice and wait 5-10 seconds for the "Google ready for voice beep", which is a horrible lag. Now to check this CPU and what governers we can use

I'm going to start removing all this crap from the system too; will start a list of what is okay to freeze/remove if anyone is interested.
