Visiting toronto - service engine light. What to do?
Just visiting Toronto for the weekend till tomorrow. Drove up the E90, and today for some reason the service engine light came on. The car hasn't had any issues before except the oil level was closer to the minimum side of the oil indicator.
I'm going to be leaving tomorrow afternoon back to Philadelphia. Is there anywhere I can get the code checked for free (or a minimal fee) to ensure nothing serious is wrong with it (it drives fine)?

Might be hard finding a shop open on Sunday before long weekend.

^ Thanks. That's what I thought but wasn't hoping for.
Do you guys have a place like pepboys or advance auto (chainwide store) where I can get the code read?

Nothing like that. The only possible option is to go to Canadian Tire store (something similar to Walmart with Auto service) and ask. It will not be free and if they can do it, then probably be in the $100 range to get the code only (not fixing the issue)

Engine light on, on the E90 is emissions related most of the time.

I hate to throw assumptions out, but just going to mention my experience with the check engine light. As mentioned above, this is usually linked to emissions.
With that said, when mine came on, nothing serious happened with the car. It was drivable. I ended up needing to replace my solenoid valve's. Good luck!

Thanks guys! Managed to get home. I tightened the fuel cap and it went off for a bit, came on again. Kept going on and off as I put fuel in the car and tightened it during my fuel stops back home.
