High altitude results- Bandimere

Hello all, been on here a while but don't post much. I've had a few N54's now but just started modding them. I took my car (08 e92 335 XI 6 SPD)to the track a couple months back to get a stock baseline number. I ran a 13.93 98.8 MPH as my best. I thought it to be pretty good for a stock car and jumped in and bought some parts.

Last night I went to the track with these mods:
Injen intake
HPF exhaust
JB4 G5 set at map 1
Enkei RPF1 wheels/tires (I only mention because they are considerably lighter than the stock 17's)

And my best time last night was, drum roll please...a whopping 13.727@100.25.

My wife has a 2010 E90 335i x-drive auto that I installed a BMS DCI and JB4 G4 on. On map 0 it ran 14.4@96.X and when we switched to map 1 she was able to get a best of 13.9x @ 98.8 MPH.

My thoughts are for stock these cars were rolling out pretty good. With the mods I am dissapointed in the times. While I know the times can be driver, what most surprised me is only picking up about 1.5-2mph on each car.

My conclusion is its the altitude that is making the tuner do very little. Thoughts from the local guys that have been running up here? Are you able to get these tiny stock turbos doing better for you?

I have a few other parts sitting in the garage waiting to go on but wanted to get some opinions first.

Where is the car shifting at? You might need to short shift the car more to stay in the powerband.

Track was relatively dead so I got to do a number of runs, tried a number of shift points, ranging from high 5000 rpm all the way to 6500 or so. Best MPH was actually tacking it out a bit...her auto did best right around 6K.

What were the weather conditions for the two times being compared?

I haven't used a JB4, so I don't know what to expect there. But yeah, if conditions were equal I'd have expected a lot more too, assuming it should be running significantly more boost with the JB4.

I'm very similar to you, 2008xi 6MT. Bone stock I also ran a 13.9@98 my first time out. As soon as I installed the Cobb that same night I ran 13.6@101 with no other changes. I started playing with E85 before making any hardware changes so it's hard to compare any of my results after that. But I will say I had really good results with E85 :-). Not sure why you didn't get more...do you have any logs?

I ran 13.9x stock, too.

When I had my jb3, ,dci, fmic, my best time was 13.6x. with some issues with the car. I haven't ran it with the procede cause I've had a lot of issues with the car.

I know I should have logged my runs, but didn't. I was really going just to have some fun and teach the wife how to race (it was her first time out ). The weather was actually better last night, high 80's last time and mid 60's last night.

I have a Helix Front mount, charge pipe and a Cobb sitting in the garage. I planned on running the BMS flash combined with the JB4 and then adding meth. I just thought it would have been good for a mid to low 13 after seeing what it did stock. However it wasn't. I think the Cobb may help a bit more at altitude. I'll have to log a few runs and plan on running some 104 next time I go up to see.

Of all the things I love about Colorado, the altitude for performance certainly isn't one of them...

What does it take to knock down a mid 12 up here? Anyone doing it on stock turbos?

Matt, remember when you had sold everything but the procede? when you made fun saying, "you dont need DPs or IC to run low 13s." I thought you ran low 13s then?

Cobb AP, HPF FMIC, AR Catless DPs and an Intake with some race gas I ran a 12.88@109.9 with a low 2s 60' (I am RWD).

I am going to try and head out this coming Wednesday again if the weather is good. Any one else down?

$30 bucks to run, $10 to watch. Last week was fun, not too many folks there so plenty of time to run...my wife even took out the CSP car, that was fun to watch. Lady handing out the slips says " well at least you know you can outrun them"

There is a burger night tomorrow, and I have a full tank of gas that I have no chance to run down, so I might skip Bandimere this week and go next week instead. I will have more time to throw on the R-comps too. I am determined to get >110mph and get my ETs down!
