Been using public transport ...

For the last fortnight. But, thankfully - good price, reliable and very fast.

I would use that any day, if it is cheaper than driving plus you can snooze on your way to work!

Been down in London and dependant on it.

Once you figure out what you are doing you are fine.

Amazed that cabs are cheaper in London than taxis are in Aberdeen!

That explains why they can afford to run Mercs, BMWs and Audis with big engines.

The Shinkansen is not so cheap, but basically a plane on the ground. Nice and quick and regular. I was in Nagoya from Tokyo. Back in Tokyo again. About 1:40 station to station.

The Subways are remarkably cheap and reliable. Was using the Subway everyday - and went exploring Tokyo yesterday. Good stroll around Akihabara. Changed a bit since I was last there. Now a fan centre for manga, with little cute manga maids advertising cafes. I got sidetracked in a toy store for a while.

Went out early this morning to try and grab a few photo locations, seeing as I was here already. Came back to hotel to find the whole block surrounded by fire engines. There was a fire in my hotel. Quickly put out, but an eye opener, when staying in these tower blocks.

With my photo location taken (underneath the Tokyo Tower in Shiba Park), I could create a quick render with one of my cars. Will have fun with this setting when I return.

Perfect example

of 'form follows function'. To my eye, there's such a sleek beauty to something designed to go really fast (commercial passenger jets excluded).

Remember my first trip on a bullet train. As you pick up speed, everything close to the train is blurred but far away objects remain clear. The faster you go, the more the blurring extends, until eventually even the most far away objects are just a smear across the window. This was the only time I ever remember feeling intimidated by speed (all the other passengers seemed completely oblivious).
