Can anyone give me an estimate on how much I should expect to pay for a clear bra and powder coating wheels. I've been emailing for estimates but haven't received any responses.

Any of you have a shop work on your wastegate rattle issue? mine rattles really loud on deceleration. I just ran across this thread where a shop in NY installed a "C" clip on the wastegate rod and that fixed it.
Any recommendations on what shop in the bay you guys would take your car too to do this?

I just moved here, and the rattle got 100x worse on the drive here...

Welcome to the area, BMW-SSRT. There's always supposed to be a C-clip there. Hopefully yours didn't fall off since they're hard to install, it's nearly impossible to install the C-clip on the front turbo without removing the turbo. Also, the wastegates tend to loosen up on high mileage cars, so adjusting the rod by 2 turns seems to help rattle and improve spoolup.

I've tightened the rod on the "top" wastegate in the past which did fix the rattle issue, this time it didn't, im guessing its the "bottom" wastegate this time around, im just tired of working on it would rather a shop check both the C clip and rod and fix it for me.
Any shops on the list you would recommend me going to?

Are you still covered under warranty? Sometimes the turbos are covered under warranty due to 'wastegate rattle'. Tightening the wastegate doesn't completely fix the wastegate, it just compensates for wear. The problem is the wastegate pivot wears out and the metal wears away. Talk to the guys at FFtec Motorsports, they have experience in this area.

Its out of warranty now, i had actually taken it to the dealer back when the car only had 40k miles on it and the dealer refused to work on it, he said my DPs were causing the issue. Thanks I'll give FFtec Motorsports a call.

Can someone give me a few shops near San Francisco that does the majority of work on BMWs and routinely does the following on BMWs:

1. brake rotors, pads, and lines.

2. water pump replacement

3. downpipe installation

4. regular maintenance (e.g. coolant flush)

I'm sick of unreliable mechanics that make you wonder whether they know what they are doing. I also don't like seeing reviews of shops that seem to cheat customers. :-/

I've seen Phaedrus BMW listed and it got good reviews, but are they the best ones to have these type of work done? I think they are also kinda expensive (even more than the dealership).

Any reputable shop in San Francisco that can and have experience installing headlight ballast and headlight bulbs on a e90 BMW 335i? I tried calling a few shops, but they are overpriced, don't want to use parts I bought, or don't know what they're doing. Already called Bay Motor Works and Phaedrus BMW...don't recommend them. Stay far away from Bay Motor Works! Metric Motors is a no go. I might go to Euro Motorcars. Hopefully some members can give me some good recommendations.
