This is a MotiveMods Assembled BMW DCT Steptronic Led Shifter/Sport Base Plate Retrofit Kit
that replaces the standard Automatic Shifter and Base Plate on ALL Left Hand Drive (LHD) Steptronic
E90, E91, E92, E93 BMW 3 Series Sedans, Coupes, Wagons, Convertible
from 2006 until 2012. Also fits both xDrive and Rear Wheel Drive cars!

4. MotiveMods DIY Installation Instructions Sheet

The Led Shifter is 100% functional and lights up amber with your dash lighting.
The Sport Mode Button Switch on the Base Plate lights up amber with the dash lighting as well.
(NOTE: Sport Mode button does NOT function to put the car into sport mode
however you can modify a Sprint Booster kit to the Sport Button. P Button does not put car in Park.
Shift Lock from Park to R,N,D will now be your brake pedal)

DIY Installation is plug and play and takes about 5 minutes or less AFTER trimming an inch or more off your existing Automatic Shifter's stalk.

Same question. I just checked out the pictorial DIY and noticed the cut stem. That makes it less plug n play and an irreversible commitment.

yes you have to cut the stem by an inch.
