Brake repair????
I spoke to several dealers in Canada, they told me that when you replaced the brake pads and brake sensors then you had to also replace the brake rotors all at the same time.
Is this true from maintenance and longevity perspectives? Thank You |

Eh you don't have to replace the rotors but I'd recommend changing the rotors with the pads. You could get the old rotors resurfaced but than after spending the money to get them resurfaced I'd just invest in new rotors.
Plus there is a minimum thickness that would make the rotors out of spec. When I did my brakes I replaced the rotors also just so I know the braking system was all new and I wouldn't have to worry about it for along time.

When my brakes were replaced - out of the maintenance plane (~60K miles) - my Indy mic'd the rotors and said they were fine. So only the OEM pads were replaced.
I replaced the original rotors just recently.

The rotors should be checked to make sure they are still within spec when the pads are replaced. They should also be checked for grooves, or other abnormal wear. If they're within spec, and look good, there is no reason they should be replaced. That being said, lots of places like to replace them every time they do a brake job, either just so they can charge you more, or to give you a better warm fuzzy feeling. No real need though.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger
