No. I went with him today and it was doing as usual. So he tried to nail it to the auxiliary belt but no luck. He cant say for sure what it is. He said maybe previous owner had some work done but he couldnt trace the nosie. Sounds like its from the engine for sure but no changes to auxiliary belt when putting water on it and no changes with clutch use or nothing like that. Noise is drowned out when accelerating so cant tell if its there. Annoying thing is noise is very hard to trace. Could even be from inside the engine.

i have heard a similar sound in mine for the first time this year (125K miles)...sounds like my fridge...traced it to the AirCon. When I turn it off the swishing noise goes away. The AC is still plenty cold enough do I'm not going to regas it to see if its slightly low...I don't have a pressure gauge for it!

Similar noise is on my N57 325D. It's like a swishing metallic sound but it's coming more from the front of the engine, noise can be heard best at driver side wheel when the car is idle
