PCV Valve Heater Recall: "remedy available"
Today I got a "remedy available" letter for the PCV valve heater recall announced this spring but had no solution at that time.
The fix is to install a wiring harness with an inline fuse, which will presumably blow instead of catch on fire when things get too hot. Has anyone had this repair done? If so, how did it go & how long did it take? |

Ha, I keep getting those letters.
I should take it to a dealer to have it done... just to watch them groan that some whacko bothered to bring in a 16 year old 335k mile car for a trivial recall that has been on-off for a decade.

Figures - I really wanted my dealership in Maine to do this work on BOTH my cars, but now the convertible is in Florida. I'll have to figure out which of the two local dealerships is more reliable.

Ah, my local one did not do that for my last recall. I had to ride my bike home after dropping off and to pick up.

I'm curious, what happens when the fuse blows? Does it throw a code or does the PCV system just turn into a giant mess?

I picked up my 2008 E92 in February of 2019 and have never received a letter.
In looking through the recall, although it says E92's from Feb 2006 to Dec 2011, I see in the parts list it only shows manifolds for N51 and N52K. So I'm assuming N54's aren't part of the recall? Or is there a different recall for N54's? Thanks Recall attached

I'd still like to know what BMW's response is to when/if that fuse is ever triggered. |
