Ignition coil died at only 17K miles 🤬
One of my Delphi ignition coils died at only 17K miles of use.
A little annoyed, but I did buy it from FCPEuro so I'm sending it back to them for credit. Anyone else had a Delphi ignition coil pre-maturely die? They should be good for at least 30-40K I believe. |

Mine are still going strong. I don't recall mileage, but they're about 4 years old.
One odd question: which cylinder? My unscientific investigation leads me to believe the majority of failures are cylinders 5 & 6, and that heat may be a factor. |

Delphi ignition coil production moved to China recently. Where was the failed unit made? |

Update: one Bosch coil just failed at 150,000km, it was dated 2007. I recommend Bosch coils, the other 5 are still working perfectly

I've never been a fan of anything Delphi personally. I have Bosch in my N52 and Eldor in my N54.
Bosch have like 80K miles on them without any issues, and my original ones lasted over 100K miles before I replaced them for "maintenance" but they were still running ok. Eldors only have like ~15K on them but I'm stage 2+ E50 MHD and no issues so far. |

I have a 328 with 34k miles on it. Last month # 1 coil died and I changed it. Just now # 4 died so I am changing all of the remaining coils. I would have changed all of them when I first had it apart but thought it was a one off failure , I guess not. Strange

Maybe the plugs are fouled putting extra load on the coils? |
