2006 325xi transmission choices
Hello everyone, I have a 2006 325xi and unfortunately the transmissions is starting to give up so I'm looking for a used one with decent milage on it. To widen the amount of options I have I was wondering what cars I can take the transmissions from. Will e90 328xi up to 2011 fit with no issues? If you know what fits and what doesn't please let me know below.

E90 328xi will have the GM trans, you need the ZF one.
Before replacing the trans I'm assuming you've already tried replacing mechatronic seals and shift solenoids correct? |

I do have the ZF transmission I haven't tried replacing solenoids yet as it very expensive and I'm not sure that will actually fix the problem. I did do a fluid flush and new mechatronix sleeves. But didn't make any changes. The issue I'm having is between 2nd and 1st gear. When the car makes that downshift it feels like your being rear ended. From the research I've done there is really nothing you can do to fix it. I'm just not convinced enough that new solenoids will fix this issue. Every once and a while transmission will have issue with 5th to 6th gear shift especially at high rpms and it will go into limp mode. Locking in 3rd gear I think. I can scan codes again but if I remember correctly it's some gear ratio correlation code.
