Angry Delivery Disaster!!!!!!!

After a Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong wait (Ordered 20 Sep 06) I came to the dealership to take my E92 328XI home. After about an hour waiting for the detailer to finish up. I got my remote and went to the parking lot to find it. Boy was I in for a treat it was an Efreak'n 90! I was soo disapointed and shocked I didn't know what to do. I bought the car when I was in Iraq through pentagoncarsales.com (Terry) and I couldn't blame or yell at the dealership for that mistake since they had nothing to do with it. I sent a good nasty e-mail and a not so pleasant message to them in germany. The only good thing I see now is that they will have to build me a new car and I can opt for a E92 335i with different exterior & interior colors. Man defenitely one of the worst days in the year of 06'. For a brief moment I was thinking of taking it and getting a refund since the coupe was more expensive. So I told my friend to get me out of there before I ended up with the sedan and later on regreting it.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm trying to think back as to what indicates E92. Now that the "c" has been dropped from the model, I wondered if that could happen. List price on the BMW order would show it clearly, as the coupe is higher. How about the VIN?? I've imagined people missing the sport package, rear sunshade, even iDrive, but never a mistake that big....sometimes we just have to let go and start over. Good luck on getting what you want.

Same thing happened when I ordered my E92 for european delivery except I caught the mistake when I was signing paperwork and paying for the car. I would have been *really* surprised to show up in europe and be handed the keys to a sedan. oc.bmwusa.com doesnt tell you if your order is a E90 or E92. Just that its a 328i or 335i. As a result my exact specs were built on an E90 and then again on an E92 for me.

that sucks but if you end up getting an 335 instead then that should help make it all better. Good luck!

well not only buyers suffer out of this issue. My dealer initially didn't wanna give any discount . I agree to buy 335i coupe for 500 below MSRP. However next they they found out the lease offer that they gave to me had an error. They used wrong residual (they used e90's residual instead of e92 's). This cost them about 1000$. Moreover, when i went to sign for lease. The finance manager made the same mistake and used e90's residual instead of e92's. So in the end they gave almost 3000 discount off MSRP.

That blows man. I'd flip out, but like you said you could not rightfully get mad at the dealer as they are just used for delivery. I ordered mine through mil sales but won't be picking it up until March. Did they give you a loaner car in the meantime while your actual order is made or do you have another car? In my case I already sold my old car so I'd be pretty fucked. I feel for you man.

That couldn't have happened with the E46.

The "i" and "ci" appendixes were unmistakable.

Maybe BMW shouldn't have changed that!

No, no loaner till the new car gets here I'm left bumming off rides to work from friends. I also sold my car before I deployed. I now have a new production month of Febuary and they are estimating delivery of sometime in April.

I'm sorry to hear that. At least you'll have a car you'll be happy with in the end. I was glad to hear you didn't "settle." Good luck with it.

Military sales

I bought mine through Superior Motors while I was in Iraq. I got a copy of the order that showed the code for 335i coupe which is WB73. I knew for sure what I wanted was what was being built. I got the car I ordered!

That sucks, I feel for you! But let’s put it in perspective, sounds like you got home safely. Shame on the dealership, they should note that this mistake happened while in Iraq and go out of their way to help you with a ride until your new car gets here!

Sometime things are just supposed to be.

Sorry for your disappointment, but the reality is that you will be ending up with a better car than you originally ordered. I would want to see if there was any way that the dealership could EXPEDITE the order. Perhaps they could change out the options on a car that is scheduled to be built to get the car to you sooner.

Yeah, the code is a key thing and my SA put 335ci coupe on the order just for a little extra too

Strange but true

I actually ordered space g and the gray poplar trim to help avoid this problem. I like them both--but being truthful with you all, I could not decide so I let "exclusive to coupe" help make the decision for me.

Now, if I get a space g sedan with gray poplar trim in a couple of weeks, that would be something.

Sorry to hear about the mix-up, I really wish they had not changed the nomenclature and left the ci designation alone. Enjoy the TT's though, this might have worked out in your favor--in a divine karmic sort of way
