Vancouver recommendations?

Will have 6-8 days off and thinking about going to Vancouver. Based on research it seems like 3 days there is enough. Then Victoria Island? And drive towards the Rockies?

Seems like things are pretty spread out so a bit confused and would like some help from those that have been there to plan things out. If anything I can do 4-5 days in and around Vancouver and a few days in Seattle. Do I even need a car for Vancouver?

There's so much to do, but yes 3ish days is enough if you aren't planning on hitting Seattle or Whistler.

Lot of great shopping downtown along Robson. The Waterfront/Coal Harbour is the best I've seen of any city in North America. Gastown has more boutique restaurants, bars, and shopping. Be sure to bike around Stanley Park. Yaletown has its own nightlife scene. Capilano Suspension Bridge in North Van is totally worth it.

If you want to experience a world famous ski resort there's Whistler a couple hours north along beautiful Sea 2 Sky hwy. It will be festive this time of year, but if you are trying to avoid the cold and snow skip it. Seattle is also a great 2 night town and it's only a couple hours south. Not as good a city as Vancouver but has it's own charm.

Car? depends where you stay. Victoria is a neat little city to walk around but I think if you really want to see more of that very beautiful area a car is a good idea. Lots of really neat little restaurants in Victoria too. And I guarantee you won't meet any asshole Canadians. Great country. Ditto for their people.

Seattle is a great city but be prepared to shell out some serious cash if you want to stay in a downtown hotel. You can save a lot by staying over by the space needle. It's only about a mile and a half from down town if that. Good public transportation can move you pretty quickly. Unfortunately, there are only have 87 Starbucks in the down town area. So be prepared to spend some time looking for coffee. (Really: you only have to move about 25 feet before you go to the next Starbucks they are F'ing everywhere).

About 60 - 80 mins south of downtown on i5 (depending on traffic) is the LeMay Car museum in Tacoma...its decent but kind of a jumble of old cars. Then drive down to Portland where there is no such thing as sales tax. Great place to shop and tons of cool restaurants.

It depends when are you planning to go, and who are you going with.

In summer, you can visit Sonora Resort https://sonoraresort.com/

I went their for my honeymoon, it's the most amazing and the most secluded spa resort. You can go fishing, whale watching, Kayaking. There's plenty of trails and you get to choose to take the bear whistle or the 3 golden retrievers. The 3 retrievers are trained to wait for you but will disappear to do their own things every so often. Take a cooking class or do sports, cuddle up to a movie at their private movie theatre.

It's a magical place that I didn't know existed living in Vancouver for 18 years.

Reachable only by helicopter or seaplane.

Cheers,
Sunny
