320d E90 Mulf issue no Cd Changer
Hi Guys,
Im new to the forums so thank you for having me Been viewing this forum for ages and you guys are very helpful so was looking for your help On my BMW 320D 2005 it has a Mulf unit in the boot which when you pull out the fiberOptic cabledl out it shows a red light on the end. However ive just discovered thencd changer was removed and theres a fibre optic cable just hanging which dosnt have a red light at the end. So this leads me to believe that the mulf unit cant work unless theres is something plugged in to complete the circuit? Please do correct me if im wrong. Thank you |

They use to do pre wiring for options.
If your car did not come with the cd player the power and fiber optics wiring is in the car but not actually in the most circuit and/or will be missing the fuse for the cd player at the fuse board. If you read the installation pdf for the cd player part of it is rerouting the fiber optic cables at the Most Hub into the active most loop. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4194 So if you didn't have a cdc before there is no reason to look at the ends of the unconnected cables and assume anything. what is the problem you are actually having or what are you trying to do? |

Ahhhh okay thank you for your reply,
Well my actual issue is that the headunit shows "--" where the phone icon is even though my Mulf unit is connected. I have tried a battery pull and tried disconnecting the mulf unit for a bit and reconnecting however no luck. I only thought that the cd changer not being plugged in might be an issue because i read elsewhere that the cd changer unit and mulf unit run on a fiberoptic circuit that if one is disconnected the other wont work? |

Only modules that are actually installed on the
Most Bus are connected to it. Most likely your Mulf or TCU died. You did check the fuse for it didn't you ? You might want to think about getting a K/D can cable and some diagnostics coding tools at this point. Bimmergeeks.net Cables and downloads are recommended. My TCU just died I replaced it with this. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...ight=bluetooth Which gives me USB , SD card and both bluetooth music streaming and phone. No voice control but the steering column buttons work. |

There is a fuse map attached to the back of the glove box cover
if somebody hasn't removed it. you remove the back with the two 1/2 turn screws holding the back cover it to gives you access to the fuse board. I assume the glove and fuse box are on the opposite side from the US counterparts. georges links https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/at...9&d=1539905743 These above links may be of help. especaily this one. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/ |
