Make pohonecalls using Voice command and steering wheel!

Does anyone have the info on how to set up voice commands and be able to make calls using the steering wheel button? i have bluetooth set up and can receive calls, but cannot make calls unless i use my phone manually. I think there was a manual for this but I appear to have lost it...

Any quick solutions on how to set up voice calling?

Thanks

press the svs button on the steering wheel and say "options". It will walk you through how to save a name to dial. Pretty cool it actually records your voice and plays it back to you as a confirmation when you use it.

Assuming you don't have iDrive:

"Save Name" is the command to store a name and number. "Dial Name" is the command to call that number. I recommend using simple names that are easy for the system to interpret. For example "home" is very difficult for the computer to understand (too soft a word) - but "house" is much easier.

The "Save Name" doesn't work on my car (May 2007 build) or on a friend's car (335i, Nov 2006 build). The only way for me to dial out is to use the "Dial Number" command. He has a compatible phone, so he can use "Dial Name" - I can't because I don't have a compatible phone.

So did they break that command on the 335i's?

Also, Coder335i, if you have i-drive, you didn't lose your manual for it, you never got one. Duh, BMW! I complained to the dealership that I didn't get one and they said when I came in to get the clear bra installed, they would give me one. Well, they found out that the 335's don't come with one. They gave me a 5-series users manual, which has i-drive instructions that are "almost but not completely the same as the 3-series". What is BMW thinking?

Not exactly a manual, per se, but they have a quick voice command card @ Bavarian Autosport (http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp) - sorry, can't direct link. $5.95

My E92 came with an iDrive manual, in addition to the BMW assist manual, and the washing and care guide. These were all separate from the main user manual.

Been there, done that, still no "Save Name" command.

Also, no separate i-drive manual, other than the 4 page quick reference, which is pretty much worthless.

So, does that mean that "Save Name" works on your 335i?

Ha, glad someone found them and posted them, I wasn't about to post 'em for a shameless plug

Anyway, those cards are for iDrive equipped vehicles, we are working on a set for non-iDrive vehicles which I believe is what the OP would be looking for. Just an FYI...
