Can iDrive be fitted to my '57' plate E92 'M' Sport

Had a test drive in a '09' plate E92 M3 today. Don't know why but it just did not blow me away, however the iDrive system did.

I have asked this question before as to why do I need factory Sat Nav and to be honest I don't need factory Sat Nav, but the iDrive system is amazing.

Can this be retro fitted or is it cheaper to just trade my car for one which iDrive in place?

Yes can be retrofitted.

Need dash with 2 humps and sat Nav system.

Trade your car in for one with it. It will cost you a bucket load and you won't get the money back when you sell the car. Well, not all of it anyway.

What didn't you like about the m3?

Its doable. If your take your time and collect all the parts slowly, you will be able to get some good deals. Plenty of members have done this. Some great advice on this forum to be had.

pssst... Come here.... come closer.... clo...ser.... The one you seek is somewhat of a legend in these parts. He is not so easy to find. He drives a lemans330d, which coincidentally is his username also. good luck in your hunt for the conversion king.

Just live without it or buy a car with the system already installed. Tearing a car apart and spending a wedge of cash wouldn't be my choice.

Yes do a swap. It is cheaper that retrofitting.

I was the fella who asked "Why do I need factory sat nav" when I can count on both hands how many times I have used sat nav.

Then I got everyone jumping down my throat about residual values and how my car wouldn't look so basic if I had it.

I totally get the i drive command unit bit and think it's great, but my last post was purely about sat nav.

Hope I'm not going to get another lashing!!!

Don't know why the M3 didn't blow me away to be honest. I think I was just expecting to be pinned in my seat and get out thinking, "I need one of these" but it did not happen.

Said that I went on a driving experience last year in Ferrari's and Porsches, and that left me unimpressed.

To be honest I think I'm turning into a boring old fart!!

I'd proffer that you didn't drive the M3 anywhere near hard enough.
Unlike big-cube yank V8's, the V8 of the E9x M3 has a deficiency of torque. As such, one must drive it very hard to get it singing to maximum level - it is for this exact reason that, driven at 75%, a 335d will be a big shape in the rear view mirror of an M3.

you want either a 335d remapped or a 335i remapped one!!

and for retro fit , parts are around 500 for the nav system and then the dash bit depends if you are lucky and add on whatever a member charges you to fit it on. certainly do able but won't be less than 1k.

Think you could be right.

It was a damp day and the back end was sliding, but had a long stretch so I floored it, when the salesman reminded me of my speed!!

Don't get me wrong [ famous last words for me ] it was a beautiful car and the noise, oh my god, it was like an orchestra.

If I am not wrong, you will require to write VIN into CIC, update CIC (if needed) and get FSC codes for the map and voice to work.
And that is at the top of price for CIC complete kit.

there was a guy on ebay selling his service to fit and code the 2 hump dash. Think it was about £600 he was charging...this would have been on top of sourcing all the parts yourself.
