Buying Michelin A/S 4 at BJ's or Tirerack

Planning to go with Michelin A/S 4+ for my 06 BMW 330i (RWD 6-speed).

225 40 R18 (Front)
255 35 R18 (Rear)

Should i go with Tirerack or BJ's? The total price is $150 lesser at BJ's but the technician at BJ's saying that they will not be able to honor the warranty of 30,000 miles due to the car having staggered setup since there wont be possibility to rotate the tires.

What are the pros & cons of going with either of these? Any recommendations?

I have done warranty through tirerack. It was easy. You can also get good deals discount tires and tire discounter. Prices are very similar. The only thing I have to watch for is to ensure the shop can mount the tires without damaging the wheels.

Good choice of tire. There is a factory warranty on every Michelin tire when sold new. So if there is a defect or manufacturing issue that arises, it will be replaced through the retailer that sold the tire, and Michelin reimburses them. Not familiar with this other place, but they sound like fucking mouth breathing retards or just straight up scam artists if they "can't honor the factory warranty due to staggered setup." The amount of Michelin tires I've replaced under warranty on staggered setups like Porsches is uncountable.

Run, don't walk, from these idiots. Wouldn't let them even check my tire pressure if I heard them say that. I would buy the tires from tire rack and honestly the road hazard from them as well. I'm not familiar with the shops in your area so I don't know what they offer in terms of road hazard protection etc. Never even heard of this other place, but I've done business with Tire Rack as a customer and competitor and can't say more good things about them.

Or, you guys could actually read Michelin's warranty instead of guessing and making stuff up. Like most tire manufacturers, Michelin warranties split fitment rear tires for 1/2 of the "normal" warranty for that tire type. So, you will have a 30k warranty on your front tires, and a 15k warranty on your rear tires.

I've decided to go with tirerack and have it delivered to a local installer. Now the question is, is it okay to install it from Firestone / Pep boys or should i have it installed with a BMW specific shop? Tirerack shows $86- $126 for the Firestone/Pepboys/Midas but shows $250 for some BMW specific shops and other tire specific shops. If I go with Firestone or Pep boys, is there a chance they can screw up with the install?

If your ok with just normal balancing and not a roadforce balance id just go with a place like firestone. Although I have read that Michelins "can be" very finicky to balance, but I have no experience with that.

I just had my new conti's put on at Firestone and they were wonderful and did everything I ask for $65. Would have been $85, but I deleted my TPMS and didn't need the sensor "coding" they offer.

Firestone did such a wonderful job, I gave them a review which I usually do not do.

Here is my review for my local firestone

"Submitted: August 18, 2021:
This is the first time I have visited Firestone as they were my installer of choice (through tire rack - closest to my house). I purchased 4 new continental extreme contact dws 06 plus tires for Firestone to install. They honored the price that tire rack estimated, in fact they did better than that due to me not having the tpms sensors installed.

The installer I had went above and beyond the normal service. I had new wheels (17''s to 18''s) to put the new conti''s on. He did so and also helped me with the current old tires and wheels. He disposed of what I wanted, took tires off what I wanted, as well as rebalanced the "best old tire" I had so I could use it as my spare. He took very special care not to put scratches on my wheels or scratch my center caps, very professional.

I will return to this Firestone for any wheel/tire issues I have in the future. If I could give them a better score than 5 out of 5, I would....Thank you Firestone".

That's good. Any particular reason you went with Conti DWS 06 Plus instead of Michelins A/S?

#1 reason, price.

#2 reason I've had continentals 3 sets in a row and i have no faults with them. Plus the tire rack review on these specific tires are close to the Michelins.

#3 In that tire rack review braking on these tires are number 1, it rains in my region ALOT and our roads are crap, have a lot of ruts for standing water.

#4 with tire rack, everything is covered for 2 years, so warranty wise it didn't matter to me.

The only reason i wish I would have gotten the Michelins are the turn in seems to be better from fellow forum members. That seems to be a constant. But lets face it, I have a 328i xdrive. I'm not Mario Andretti

Customer service is becoming utter trash these days and it's not worth saving a few bucks to take a hit to my mental health.

While Amazon is the worst company I've ever seen for customer service, so many others are following their lead.

I have nothing but praise for tirerack and I've bought from them many times. Well worth it to have actual customer service and a company who isn't looking for a loophole to deny every claim.

Tirerack everytime.

I would say BJs if they are convenient and you want to save the $150. The warranty (as far as i know) comes from the manufacturer not the installer. a lot of expensive cars are sold new oem with staggered wheels and I'm certain they are covered by all warranties.

Is it okay to do normal balancing instead of road force balancing? Will this affect the life of the tires? I will be doing a wheel alignment later as well. The current tires have very bad inner tire wear . Hopefully it should be solved with an alignment.

no one really does road force balancing anyways, the time and effort it takes most customer wont pay for that service. if they have rd force machine it be nice to have them check each rd force of each for an fyi.

ask them to set the rear camber as positive as possible and to match side to side, bmw seem to sacrifice tire wear for handling which most dont notice anyways

I had the road force balance done yesterday and this was the metric they handed it to me post the balancing.

thats just a rd force check which requires no more effort than pressing a button on the balance machine. doubt they measure the high spots on the rim and tire and matched them together.

since your rd force check numbers are good, moot point by the way. btw they should have put the rim/tire with a higher number farthest away from you (if tire rotation allows it) and I usually have them hide the weight behind the spokes for a cleaner look.

Road force balancing is AMAZING on 4Runners but I've never had it done on BMW's. No tires will ever be 100% smooth on a 4runner for some reason and they are literally luxury car smooth or better afterwards. It's not uncommon to see road force in excess of 60 pounds per wheel before the tires are force matched. After they are always under 20 pounds each, with the fronts being usually around 10. I never even bother with the regular balance now.

I plan to do a road force when it's time for tires on my e90 as well.
