Fault code diagnosis! Please help!
I have a 2011 E93 N55 122k miles. Running MHD stage 1. Muffler delete and upgraded charge pipe.
Just got my valvetronic motor and valve cover replaced. And about 4 days later. I'm driving and it goes into reduced power mode. I pulled over and read the codes. Here's what it said: Please help! This car is seriously pissing me off. |

Codes look like your HPFP is tanking/your injectors are cutting off but I'm guessing it has something to do with the VC/Vanos system. Logs would certainly help.
2C58 could be b/c your TMAP senor isn't reading enough boost or it's being tripped by the 2D55. 2D55 and 2C58 after VC change Have you checked your oil filter housing cap assembly? The o-ring on the top of the plastic cage can go bad and slow drip eventually getting to your vanos solenoids. Pull those vanos solenoids out and blast them with some crc cleaner. Free and easy. Also, check if you're part of the VANOS recall on the 2011's. That could be a sleeper fix. Vanos Press Release I have 387F as well from aftermarket interior lights the previous owner installed. Haven't found a good answer on how bad for the battery it is but the charge holds. Wouldn't worry about this one too much right now. All a shot in the dark until we get some logs to help guide though.

There could also be unmetered air getting into the motor. Had this same thing on a customer's car and it was the PCV valve that went bad, makes a bad squealing noise at idle as it sucks air in and throws everything off! It will end up running rich and foul your plugs. Vanos can't adjust cause the car can't tell how much air is in there for afr… it's a house of cards!
