lmao... Yes, a DVD is 4.7GB, with GB being the bastardized version that hard drive manufacturers use: 1GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes.

But in the real world 1GB is not 10^9 bytes... it's 2^30 bytes... or 1,073,741,824 bytes. This means your 4.7 "GB" DVD really can only hold about 4.377GB... or 4,482MB... or 4,589,843KB... or 4,699,999,232 bytes.

This can be verified with Nero if you pop in a blank disc and go to Recorder/Disc Info. I just did this for a DVD-R and it shows up as 4489MB free.

This NRG (Nero ISO) file is exactly 4,763,844,776 bytes in size. Which is about 60MB too big to fit on a blank single-layer DVD-R.

Do you have a blank DVD-R DL disc you can try? I'm out of DL blanks at the moment...

Is everybody having the same problem of the .ISO being just over 4.7gigs? Or was that issue isolated to using NERO to create the .ISO?

Yes, it's too large for a DVD-R. I suspect it may be related to being a Nero .nrg image but can't be sure.

I burned it to a DVD+R DL. I created a .ISO file from that. It turned out to be the same size as the Nero .NRG file.

I don't have any DVD-R DL right now but will try the DVD+R DL in my car --- don't know if that will work yet.

No, Roxio get the same problem - not enough disk space....

Stupid Nero.

If you use IMGBurn you can continue anyways, not sure if it will work or not.

What about extracting all the files from the image and just copying them over to a DVD disc?

Guys,

I'm going to rip an ISO right now and see if there is an appreciable size difference.

I wouldn't think there'd be a big difference. The Nero Image format may have a bit of extra weight in the header, but I doubt it'd be 60+MB worth. Plus that extra crap wouldn't need to be burned back to the disc anyway. Creating a Nero Image and burning a disc from that creates an exact copy, not an exact copy with extra MBs of junk.

But let us know what happens.

Agree, an Iso file shouldn't be much different.
The ISO file I have is at 4,652,182 KB or 4.35 GB

I'm gonna try and get a Dual layer at lunch and advise.

I just burned the .nrg to a DVD+R DL (as I didn't have any DVD-R DL).

It's working perfectly in my 2008 E70 (X5). So that model accepts dual layer DVDs.
I did tests on looking up addresses, for navigating to them, and looking up information, such as hotels, for my location.
