canbus vs antiflicker

Have a question for you guys. Is there a difference between the 2? I recently installed the Morimoto 2stroke v2 as fogs in my 2011 e90. One side kept giving me an error whole the other didnt. I played around with different combinations and narrowed it down to possibly a bad bulb. The bulb would light up normal but always threw a code. I contacted the retrofit source and their solution was to exchange the antiflicker that morimoto makes for the v2s for some generic canbus. Thoughts?

I have the V1s for my fogs and the anti flicker on my 07 and it works flawlessly. Not sure if that helps you at all. V2 look really bright. Almost makes me want to upgrade...almost.
