Can't register battery with foxwell nt520

I have a Foxwell NT520 that I purchased a few weeks ago with the intention of registering a battery to my new-to me 2010 328i x drive.

Put the battery in yesterday, and I have tried all three options it provides me: register same battery same size, register a new agm battery (which is true), register new battery different size.

Doesn't matter if I tell it is an OEM BMW battery, or non oem, i get two error messages. It says it can't communicate with the IBS engine program, or its says it can't record the battery in the software (I'm paraphrasing the messages, but this is the jist of it).

Anybody else run into this problem?

I have the 520Pro...not used it yet for battery registration... but it was my thought it could only register a battery as previously installed...Did you change the battery spec in anyway?

It has 3 options and I tried all three:

- Same
- Different size
- AGM battery

None worked.

My assumption is that since the software in the car can not 'sense' what kind of battery it is, we have to 'tell' it with the foxwell. Therefore, I should have been able to 'tell' the car what it was with any of the three options provided. The correct option is that it is an AGM battery, however, tried all three, none of them worked.

I have the NT510 and it registered a new battery. It would not code in a change in capacity or type.
