Mobil 1 0W-40 Euro Blend @ Wal-Mart

So since I've had my car I only occasionally picked up a quart or two of Mobil 1. But where I'd once paid something like $5-6 per quart, it's now at $7.98! Between an oil pan gasket requiring replacement and my "infrequent" spirited driving, I'm naturally consuming more oil. That said, I felt prompted to consider purchasing in a larger quantity to save a little. Well, I just got back from wally world and a 5qt. jug cost a paltry $23.88(the sign actually said $28.68). Which means it's $4.78 per quart and considering the current single quart cost, a whopping $3.20 in savings. If you use Mobil 1 0W-40 Euro Blend Synthetic, go check out your local Wal-Mart for that super deal.

Yep, that's what I have been using for that reason. The deal is unbeatable. Possibly a loss leader for WM, don't know, that's the only thing I buy there.

Same. my wife's ml350 also takes the Mobil 1 synthetic so I buy it in the jugs at Walmart. Great price!

How much oil are you actually consuming? Depending on that figure, I'd actually change to something other than Mobil to see if those consumption rates change. Some cars seem to consume M1 at a rate much higher than other oils. You won't know until you try something else to see if that's the case though. Plus, obviously the leaky pan gasket isn't helping.

I just changed to M1. Ive eaten through about 1 quart in 3500-4000 Miles. I also just went FBO...So the consuming of oil could be from either lol.

I'm pretty sure i might have a leak though. I smell burning oil more than usual.

I used to need a quart at around 3500K, which was great as I'd use it as a marker for my next oil change which was every 7K, so once between oil changes. Late last year after an unfortunate encounter with a dog carcass on the highway, I'd got under my car to assess the damage which was minimal. Anyways, we decided to poke around underneath and we all found that the oil pan gasket seemed kind of bloated and "weeping", definitely needs changing. I doubt a change in brand's going to help. A change in oil pan gasket though? Yeah, that's going to hurt bad. OUCH!
