quick question on manual mode

when in manual mode and having come to a stop and having let the car downshift on it's own, should the car go to 1st gear or 2nd? My audi goes to 1st, the porsche does not and now when I drive my wife's bmw (not very often) I can't remember if it goes to 1st or not.... Tks a lot!!

The 335d tranny stays in 2nd unless you shift it manually to 1st.

It stays in 2nd. Don't know why though.
