CIC + Combox Retrofit Issues [2007 E90 335i]

Hi All,

I've recently decided to retrofit a CIC and Combox into my 2007 E90 335, although I'm struggling to get some features working (or working properly).

Originally my car had a CCC Nav Professional with a TCU, (Front Aux and Phone cradle in center console) & Logic 7.

What I have done (In this order):
1) Install the CIC and Updated it from C08 to C1A (After bricking it the first time, although I've fixed that thankfully..)
2) Update the Amplifier successfully to restore Audio.
3) Patched the CIC with Intel's script and installed / activated Navigation, Voice, BMW Apps successfully.
4) Updated Navigation to 2018 AU/NZ Premium Maps
4) Install Combox Media, re-pinned TCU connector to Combox connector (no canbus / other telematics specific pins)
5) Adjust VO's to represent Combox Media & CIC, FA_WRITE to CAS and NFRM, then SG_CODE to CIC & KOMBI

Thus far, I have a functional CIC with no SOS errors. The combox is able to communicate with the CIC, I can pair bluetooth devices, play audio over bluetooth, use the USB port with an iPhone, access connected apps (spotify etc), browse the internet on the CIC.

The Problems:
1) Digital TV no longer works, whenever I attempt to use TV on the CIC, no stations(programs) are listed and the station search function never progresses past 0%
2) Bluetooth is really temperamental, once my phone is paired, it works as intended, until I either, disconnect my phone by turning the car off or receive a phone call. After that, there my phone will not reconnect to the IDrive until I delete the pairing and re-pair it.

Naturally I assumed the combox needed to be default coded to the car with NCSExpert (SG_CODE), although I receive an error whenever I try to code it

I checked to see if it was present in INPA... Nope...

For all of my coding, I have used an ICOM A+B, when checking for the module in INPA I used EasyConnect trying all; Base, Most_Async, Most_Async_ab625, OBD_ab625.

I think the problems related to the Combox bluetooth issues are because the combox has not been programmed with my car VIN and or the software needs to be updated, although regarding the TV I'm at a loss with no idea how to get that to work again...

One thing to note, My CIC VIN does not match my cars vin, I have tried setting the vin on the cic with Tool32 and NCSExpert, although with tool32 I get invalid argument length error and with NCSExpert, is codes successfully although the vin doesnt change according to INPA, I presume to do this I will have to use WinKFP and write UIF data? Could this vin mismatch be the reason I cannot see the combox (Surely not right?)

Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!

try to disconnect(exclude from MOST loop) cd-changer and check by ETK, you probably need newer revision of the TV module to work with CIC

I think you're right about the video module, the parts catalogs all specify different part numbers from newer years, I really have no interest in having TV in my car, it would of been nice to retain it though.

I may just disconnect the CD Changer and TV Module from the MOST loop and see if the combox is detected then.

So I disconnected everything from the most loop apart from the CIC and the Combox, Opened inpa again (most / most_async / most_async_ab625). Still no Combox module present.

As far as I'm aware, I don't have to power pin 2 on a combox media module right? This pin not being populated surely cannot be the problem.

I also then incrementally started adding things back and in different orders (re pinning the Most Junction behind rear seat panel). No matter what combination I tried, the same result was yielded. I'm beginning to think I have a dead Combox, or I am required to pin K-Can connections.

I can 100% say I only have a combox media, I don't have the 2 Antenna connectors for the telematics on the combox.

After messing around with it some more, the Combox just refuses to show up in INPA or respond to NCSExpert, although the CIC is interfacing with it just fine...

The main problem I'm trying to solve right now, is the Bluetooth problems, whenever my phone disconnects from the cars Bluetooth, it will not reconnect until I manually delete the pairing on both my phone and car, then repair it.

The Bluetooth also disconnects whenever I hang up from a voice call. I'm beginning to believe the Combox is faulty.

If anyone has any suggestions before I buy another Combox, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I've found the issue,

My Combox is a BN2010 type, I believe that is for F-Series only.... I should of checked properly although I just trusted the eBay listing..

Can anyone confirm that the BN2010 combox version is incompatible with E series cars?

Or if not incompatible, is it the reason for the random bluetooth problems I am experiencing.

Yes. BN2010 is for F chassis. You should have a BN2000
