BMW specialist in North Wales please? Plus engine/remap question? Thank you!

Hi,

I have just bought a 330d coupe, manual with 72000 miles and an absolute beast - what car!

I live in the middle of nowhere in North Wales, and would love get it serviced by someone who knows what they are talking about - do you have any recommendations please? I am happy to travel.

Also, looking to get a remap by emaps - is the manual box capable of holding the power? I have heard mixed things. I love the car, and intend on keeping it so I dont want to cook the box or the engine, hence booking a service before a remap.

Thanks for all your help!

James

GBW TUNING in Oswestry. is close to you then. I have 380bhp 740nm 335d with a 6 speed manual conversion using 330d parts, they are well up to the job. you won't get near that power just mapping a 330d, it will be ok.

Easily. So easily. It's rated for 600Nm, if memory serves, but I've heard of people running over double that through them. I wonder who managed to break one on a 330d!?

The DMF may not be your friend for very long after a map, but that's the only part of the drivetrain I'd have any significant concern for.

Enjoy the car, wise choice I'd say! I love how the 30d seems to do its thing with so little fuss!

P.S. have a google of the ZF GS6-53DZ (or -53BZ; the petrol ratio version)

Glin is a well known tuner and has a good following and likewise I've only heard good things about him. Be good to see what proof there is that he's a bad tuner?

Dear me? I've seen you use that patronising term before mate. The link you've put up you may want to read yourself first, it's about upgrading a turbo and 10 pages in there is no mention of Giynn or Glin.

Should it be me saying dear me? No mate because there's no need for it.

OP, though I don't want to take a side in the above opinion misalignment, I think it would be wise to avoid this chap. Literally nobody that I've found has anything bad to say about BW chiptune (and maybe there are others too), which I think speaks volumes. It's not worth taking a chance on something that's a one-off expense, and a one-off trip to have it done.

i can also vouch for other tuners,,especially ecotune, ,but as they were not avaulable to me by location etc etc i i chose and will always choose bw simples...if you look at the mainstream tuners files he has had to look at because of mapping problems..then you would never use a generic tuner again,,im not just saying all this,,its experience and learning,,i by no means know it all, and continue to learn,,and thats why i pass on proper info that i know to be fact..
