Advice for doing a manual exhaust cutout

Kia Ora,

I've been looking into getting an exhaust for my BMW 323i 2006 E90 for a while now. I don't have hundreds of thousands of dollars to drop on an exhaust and am wanting something I can reverse easily (in case I sell my car down the line).

Long story short I am looking at buying a manual exhaust cutout. A Stainless Steel one goes for around 55USD + labour. In New Zealand, it is legal to have a manual exhaust (not electric) cutout. Has anyone done this or had any recommendations before I dive headfirst into this? I.E issues, size (As the exhaust is 2.36 inches should I get the 2.25 pipe or 2.5?).

I've got friends who have both muffler deletes and electric cutouts, both sound so much better than stock.

Cheers for the help!
