I responded that he is nowhere close to me, and that I don't feel comfortable seeing him in person, and that it's a perfectly normal business transaction to just mail me the check. I'm sure I'll never get it. He also started up bothering my buddy (again, who's experience I had mentioned in the review, who had his own awful experiences with matt) so I decided to take those statements out of my review. In the message today to my buddy "and to be frank, I'll escelate this on my end legally." I'm not sure if he was referring to my complaints, or to my buddy's but it's pathetic either way. If it's my buddy, it's especially pathetic, as he's basically had no contact with matt and is just trying to be in absolutely no contact with him, to be over and done with it.

Are there public court cases against him currently? Would love to go sit in for them just to smile and watch.

He also turned off the reviews on his facebook page right away. I went to go change my facebook review to not include my buddy, and found no sign of any reviews anymore. Typical.

When he texted me about it, in his typical "I'm pretending to be a lawyer and tryign to catch you in a mistake" speak, he texted me "also, can you confirm for me "friend" made that statement? He never paid for a transmission. He paid for a transfercase"
I responded "I won't be doing anything for you, besides checking my mailbox. Have a good one! I'm at work, and wont be able to respond to you anymore today."

Then he said "you can let me know when you can talk on the phone for 5 mins today. It'll be professional and courteous. If not feel free to hang up."

I responded " Feel free to text whatever you need to me. I've removed the part about my friend from the google review, and will not have time today to speak to you. I'm a very busy person, and already wasted enough time over the past few months trying to reconcile this, even before I posted any reviews. I'll read any texts when I get a chance.

And I'm done for the day. it was a glorious month with no contact from Matt, and on january 17th when the last interaction was had, he stated "And even though I don't have time I'll still bring this matter to court"

At this point, I think any time he tries to contact me I'll either not respond, or text him a picture of the largest gaping pornstar's butthole I can find at that moment. Maybe I'll add "you open your mouth and this is what I see"

In reality I won't respond, but the pictures WOULD make me giggle.

Everything in this statement, I literally went though, LOL, it's been a nice couple months without the stress of the outcome my car/znm/refund. My car will never be the same, and it's taken me a year and a half to accept that. Reality of being conned...

It's all a bullshit, if he were willing to refund you. We have PayPal, venmo, etc. Every other scenario is shady, checks are outdated and inconvenient these days, and prob will bounce. Lol so yeah no.

Pm me if you want to know court dates, i know someone who is attending and is up to date more than I am.

Hey Guys,
I am the owner of M3TRIC Motorsports Inc., the company that operates in ZNM's old space. The stories are endless... people keep coming out of the woodwork with more and more fraud stories. Just to let you know, I am in the same boat... I am an ex-customer of Matt's. He stole from me, and lied about doing work, just like so many of you have said, on multiple cars I had brought there. Anyone who has been wronged, can come and see, we have made sure he cant do what he has done any more from this location. We are currently working with 5 ex customers to try to get them their cars back, and have already returned about 15. Anyways... just speaking up to say, Matt is gone, and we are trying to run a legit shop doing much of what he was.... If you have been to the shop in the past year or two, the E36 race car is mine, and my partners, Rob. Still have my E60 M5 and M2 that have escaped being harmed by him, and his sketchy dealings.

Best of luck to all those in court dealings with Matt, I hope you and he, both get what you deserve.

Stop in and say hi,

best,
Jeffrey Melgaard

Seems your inbox is full. I'd love to come out and support, but hope I get a bit more notice than the day before next time! As long as I'm at my current job, I have loads of time off to use, but if I get a new gig(good for my career and sanity), I'll have much less time off. If I'm able to come, I'll be there! Glad to show support.

Jeffrey- glad to hear someone's got that space, and I truly hope you run a better business! I'll make the drive over sometime and say hi. I've seen your car(s, probably) there over the years.
Always curious to see a new BMW shop nearby. I know you aren't supposed to advertise and stuff, so I'll ask about your specialties/ experience in person! Enjoy those freshly refinished floors that ZNM paid for (or rather, probably scammed someone out of)

So I understand hesitance with trusting us... Matt burned a lot of people, and a lot of bridges. He even "threw the mechanics under the bus" many times, to explain why things didnt happen as they should, or why things werent done. I hope people can see that this was Matts way of trying to keep scamming people. My experience with these mechanics, is that they are honest, trustworthy and knowledgable.

I knew we would have an uphill battle with this location, and my mechanics being the same as Matts. But remember, Matt was the scam artist, the mechanics just did what Matt had told them to do.

I hope people can keep an open mind with our new shop, and if not, I truly understand... but try not to bad mouth us without any inkling of wrong doing.

My strategy will be to be transparent on all fronts, from costs, to turn around times, and the inevitable, mistakes that we WILL make. We will try to right the wrongs that have been done. Please talk to any of the customers who had cars here during and after the transition, and i think you will see they are pleased with the new state of affairs.

Thanks to all who have been with us through the transition, and again, I cant blame anyone who doesnt want to be associated with us due to Matt's wrong doings, but I hope, in time, we can establish a new relationship with our community.

I appreciate your response and trying to do damage control.

I was part of his Single Turbo build scam but I was very lucky to have charged all the parts on my credit card and Paypal credit card. It took me about six months to get all my refund from my credit card. During the entire process he made lots of excuses ... His excuses were exactly the same excuses that he used on others.

The other issue whether Matt and his mechanics and now your mechanics actually did the work that we paid for? I had serviced two BMW 2009 335 and 2007 328 (GF) with Matt. Some owners stated they were missing parts and had used parts. At some point in time you have to question the owner (Matt) of his direction when it seems to be suspicious or out right fraud! Are your mechanics going to testify against Matt and his fraud scams that others has filed with the courts?

Here are some examples - both cars had the OFHG done but later one it had to be redone by another shop. Either 1) it was poorly done 2) it was never done and I just assumed it was done.

Another example my GF had replaced Oil Level Sensor 10/7/2017 at 157K Miles and then it was replaced at another shop 201K miles on 2/1/2019. The original sensor lasted 10 years or 157K miles but the second one failed at 43K miles least than 1.5 years.

Biggest issue we did a tranny flush at Matt on 3/24/2018 at 171K miles and on 6/6/2018 177K miles her tranny had issues. It would not shift into gear. Not sure why but had to get that repaired at another shop. Seems really odd that the tranny failed less than 6K miles or 2.5 months later.

I can go but I think you get the idea.

I was that customer who would bring donuts for Bryan and the other mechanics. I always appreciate the actual guys who turns the wrench but I can't help to think they were silent through this entire process probable did things they shouldn't have or should have done! It would have been nice if these guys said something to the customers .

Seeing the Matt's mechanics and now your mechanics is very triggering in a very negative way.

First off Jeffery, Carmen spoke to me after visiting your shop and he had some pretty positive things to say about you, and i wish you the best of luck reviving the shop. However you of all people know the frustration we have all been through, and i hope you don't take this personally and with no offense at all...but i cannot fathom visiting your shop nor recommending it as long as those mechanics who worked for Matt and Elyse are still there.

Matt's directive or not, their work was shitty to say the least. Ill reiterate again the condition of my car when i got it back and tell me if Matt and Elyse told them to give me my car back in this condition too:
-My valve cover was cracked and it sure as fuck was not when i dropped it off
-My rear inlet was not even attached when i got my car back
-I had brand new bell housing bolts for which i have NO reason why as i was just getting turbos....
-I had a battery that melted my trunk
-I had a flat tire
-I had food crumbs everywhere also with an extra couple hundred miles. Since no new turbos was installed, my car was obvious a joy ride car for someone
-I had mystery turbos----Is is not strange for the owner to tell you to take out the turbos of this car, and then to ask you to install another set of used malfunctioning turbos?
-Dents on dents on dents, few ants nest, few dead mice, yes mice, in my fuel pump area, just below the lock ring
-New unknown windshield
-Yeah and missing screws, trays, stripped screws, stripped holes for the cowl area, unplugged vacuum lines, ZERO coolant....you know the normal ZNM treatment.

Negligence, pure negligence and mechanics who DNGAF. How is that okay, how can you trust mechanics like that who take zero pride nor zero moral in their work. Taking orders from your boss is one thing, but there is a certain point where enough is enough, and your ass is on the line for not saying anything or at least not putting the car back together CORRECTLY. Turning a blind eye a few times is already sketch but taking parts from one customers car and installing it on another customers car is not okay. There is nothing you can do nor say to people to justify that in my honest opinion.

And that is why you should clean house.

See attached from a customer from 2 years ago who PMED me about how he got his car back. Also a little more Matt and Elyses' Bullshit.

Same location! Same mechanics?

Sounds like a rebrand to me. Think of it as Znm wearing a mask

To drive this point home about the mechanics. I know in PA and I will assume NJ is the same, Mechanics are licensed and insured. If the do not repair a car correctly they are liable for any damage to the car or person if the car fails and repair is found to be the cause of the accident.

I do most all my work on my cars so I take responsibility of my work, however, I would never want anyone working on my cars who cuts corners or does not question someone telling them to do work which could put someone life at risk. As shop owner you probably would not want them working for you since they could put your business at risk as well.

There is a court date at Pompton Lakes municipal building on March 23rd. If you have an outstanding case against Matt with NJ Consumer Affairs it would be VERY helpful if you could attend.

I do kind of agree with taking responsibility- and when I interacted directly withe the mechanics, they seemed perfectly good at their job. Not taking responsibility for their work is a major turn off, though. I never even got their names but the bigger fella seemed to know his stuff about transmissions- I've had a few conversations about mine with him to try to diagnose stuff.

Still, it kind of wigs me out. I'll stop by at some point to see what's up, but it's a big hesitation to have things worked on by matt's old guys after what's happened.

Jeffery, are there any ties at all to matt/ his old business? Is he getting a percentage? In the spoolie thread, it says you received the business as part of a deal with Matt- he mustve owed you some big bucks if all the tools, lifts, employees, and stuff went with the deal.

Will Matt be showing to that one? Was he arrested or is it still an active warrant?

Hey guys.... sorry, I have been radio silent on this thread, I am not a huge forum guy, but I realize that you guys are important to future business. We wanted to spend a few months cleaning up the messes that Matt had left behind. We are just starting to find our way now, and have begun booking new jobs.

So, Matt isnt getting anything from us, the only thing he ever got from us, was a deal that we would not sue(for damages and money owed), if he turned over assets of the former business. THATS IT. He screwed a bunch of us pretty badly, and there was no way he was ever going to see another cent of my money. In fact, we still have some of his stuff here, that we are holding hostage, until he returns some of the stuff he owes some of my current customers. I wanted nothing to do with his former business.

Its true, some of our problems have been self inflicted and I, too, have had some quality control issues in the past. However, we are doubling down on our efforts to improve the quality of our services. We will be implementing a full checklist before delivery, to improve quality control, which will include check rides, but nothing more than absolutely necessary. No joy rides or bullshit.

I appreciate everyone who has advocated for us as a business, but I also appreciate the feedback from those of you who are still unhappy to see what we are trying to build here. We are acknowledging the problems of the past and trying to work on improving them, to give customers what they deserve; to not just be satisfied with their investments, but feel like they got more value, than what they were expecting. We want our customers to be happy to spend their money, and not ever have to worry about what they are getting.

I just want to be clear that we have NO ties to Matt or his past, current, or future problems, but I am willing to help anyone who is trying to be reimbursed from Matt, in anyway I can help you. I am going to try to make the court date, as i hope all of you who have been slighted will do. We as a community need to stick together to make sure something happens and he doesnt get off the hook.

Agreed. Even if the mechanics were only “taking orders”, why would you want that type of guy working on your car?

Hard pass...

Just doing some work on my car today and figured I would share my latest ZNM rip off discovery. The front intercooler is what you get when you order and pay for a 7.5 VRSF race intercooler from ZNM. The one in the rear (plastic wrapped) is what you get when you order the same part from N54tuning.

Wait I'm confused, isn't the front one the correct 7.5 stepped ic from vrsf?

Edit: nvm I misunderstood the perspective of "front" when I first read the post

Matt from ZNM is a scam artist. I had my e92 m3 in there for two months sitting in his shit junkyard in the back of his shop. He was very quick to collect a payment for parts but did not do a thing to my car other than let it rot in the back with all of his garbage out there. He had told me he changed motor mounts, reset my transmission settings, did a transmission fluid flush, transmission mounts, reprogramming of mechatronics. He gives me my car back without a key. My battery was shot. And told me i was good to go. The next day i brought my car to Northeast Motorsports in Mahwah (high quality shop) only to find out my car wasnt touched. Went back to matt to collect the money i paid him for letting my car sit in his shithole. After many visits and weeks of trying to get my money back, he decides to write me a check that shortly after bounced. Also his mechanics were always very pissed off and had attitude problems everyime i was there. My e92 had 30k miles and was babied. Its a shame because he wasnt bad when he first opened up with his other two partners. He wouldve done well there if he was an honest person. Usually i would never bash on anyones business but that was by far the worst experience ive had with any type of service. I would take my car to Autocouture Motoring in Fair Lawn or Northeast Motorsports and gladly pay the extra money do get work done once and right.

You should just post on his IG asking when he’s going to return money to his customers? It’s not harassment if it’s true..
