DPF Delete without tune question
I am having a downpipe installed in place of my DPF and I won't be able to tune the car until I get it back home from the shop. I've read that the car will allow you to start and run it once before going into the limp mode the second start. After that if you clear the codes it will restart that process. I have a 23 mile drive home. Do you think I'll be alright if I just start it and drive it home? Am I correct in my assumptions?
Thanks |

I accidentally did this once, except I reset it to factory tune, it will limo you all the way trust me, just drive safe and try to avoid needing to really accelerate and you'll be fine

I drove it home, took all the slow back roads and tried not to exceed 2k RPMs. The car never went into limp mode, it didn't even throw a CEL which I was very surprised about. There were two codes when reading with protool. One for 4C09(EGT upstream of CAT), and another code for SCR system malfunction(well no shit).
I'm not driving the car again until I get the tune installed in fear of damaging something. Wooweeee it was a very hot day out which didn't help but man the exhaust wreaks now. I may have to bite the bullet a little later and replace the DP with a catted version. My dad who was following me said there were random puffs of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust which has me a bit worried. |
