Heather - yes, SCR still in place. Waiting for iaknown (Dave) 's solution. Hopefully in the next month or so. DDE is on the kitchen table until the GF is done with the car for the day. Meanwhile I'm sleuthing a huge vacuum leak on the Samurai and hoping to go fishing.

Bob,

I don't think so, but will check. What would that do?

OT - Samurai has a bad throttle cable, not a vacuum leak.

Ah, I thought it was completely bypassed in the DDE. So, we need to keep something in the tank? Can we just trick the sensor? I'd like to remove everything in the near future...

Before we wanted to release the tune for the masses, I would contact the 3 people that had our software with the ABC deletes and check in to make sure all was well.

Since then, they have over a year on those tunes and seems to be no issues. I'm working on a solution for a software update on the intank level sensor and I will let you guys know when it is ready. Another test would be to disconnect the level sensor and try to start the car.
Is there any concern with us Northerners having nothing but distilled water in the tank? We have been in the single digits here in Ohio and although I have a garage my car is outside at work 10+ hours per day.

Is the level sensor resistance based? If so could we just bypass with the proper OHMs?

Sneaky germans, sounds like a some resistance measurements while full and a bridge wire could handle this.

Or we could just wait for the software to get figured out

Missed this post.

Can't think of a better apples to apples comparison than in the same vehicle. I'll be looking forward to your feedack.

Curious what tools do you have to make the comparison? Any data logs would be really appreciated. Thanks.

I have nothing but a butt dyno, sorry. Did not get to it today, still trying to figure out the shenanigans with the old Samurai.

Would you be open to trying a phone app?

TDIwyse and I can both recommend PerfExpert.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rfexpert&hl=en

I also like Dynomaster by Trackaroo https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...oid.Dynomaster

You can contact me if you would like help setting it up. I don't see us getting another opportunity like this anytime soon. No pressure, just making an offer, if you are interested.

Can you post your dynamaster specs. weight/losses etc you're using?

Never actually weighed the car. I just use the specs from the attached Car & Driver spec sheet.

You can determine the drag loss by running the acceleration test in reverse. That's kind of fun to see what the tires add over the wind resistance. But honestly, just looking for a way to do apples to apples comparisons, so I keep it simple and consistent.

I'm considering downloading PerfExpert. Can you explain in detail the reverse acceleration test to obtain drag loss?

I can't say I'll get the details right because it has been awhile. Maybe TDIwyse has given it a shot? Basically, you need to get up to speed, start the dyno portion of the app, get into neutral and coast. You may need a bump of the brake to trigger logging. I think that maybe easier to do with Dynomaster, as the triggering options are better, IMO. Getting the logging to trigger is the trick, otherwise deceleration is just the reverse of acceleration.

I first learned how to do this with a GTech. It used on board accelerometers and even though it was not as convenient as a phone, I think it had more flexibility. BTW, in a manual car, you can leave it in gear with the clutch in and capture more of the drivetrain loss.

Sorry, I have nothing useful to contribute on that subject. I'm just interested in it as a tuning tool and look for relative differences, not absolute accuracy.

Just ordered all the components for my 2nd WI system for my project. I hope to have everything installed soon and get a few dyno numbers. I hope to do a SCR delete comparison dyno, dual nozzle WI setup dyno comparison and an additional comparison with the 2nd WI system.

1st set up is progressively controlled and consist of 2 nozzles. A 1gph and a 10gph. This system taps into the stock washer tank and will use -20* washer with max of 20% methanol.

2nd system consist of 6x 2gph nozzles and is also progressively controlled (separate controllers). I'm planning on using the DEF tank for the storage tank but not 100% certain yet. This system will utilize 49-65% methanol. 4 gallons of boost juice is ordered and en-route!

I hope to pick up considerable power with both systems in use but, time will tell.

I opted to use this controller as it's reasonably priced and I'm very impressed with their quality over the named brand controllers.

http://www.hpcontrols.ca/media/files...Controller.pdf

In addition, I'm looking to do a few additional air box/cleaner dyno pulls along with a open filter comparison. Hopefully it will shed a little light on the air flow/power discussion.
