E93 broken plastic clip in top in roof rail
I wanted to get a second opinion and thoughts from the forum. A few weeks ago I was driving and heard a few pops in the roof. Didn't think too much of it until I retracted the top and saw a broken plastic clip laying in the area where the roof rail/support lays.
I took it to the dealership and they said these parts would need to be replaced: 06 Roof molding prime-coated left 54377184037 13 Mounting kit, roof rail 54377187747 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=54_0361 The annoying part is that part #6 above is an exterior part and needs to be repainted. The dealership is quoting me about $500 to do the whole thing - painting and all. However, they don't do painting and would have to have it painted somewhere else. Does the price seem reasonable? Has anyone else had to have this part replaced? I'm also concerned about the painting not matching the rest of the area. They did say I could order the parts myself and take them somewhere to be painted - another option I am floating around.

Bumping up 3 months old thread as I just had the same issue, left side as well. I have the e93 M3, same year as yours 2011.
Anyone else has better experience on how to fix this? |

Same here, same side (left side) 2009 328i. The part is still on the car, I just don't retract the top anymore. I can get the part from here https://www.yourbmwparts.com/oem-par...eT0mdD0mZT0%3D get it painted, and the dealership said they'll install it for about $70.

The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Driver side, rear trim piece. I have a 2011 BMW 335is convertible.
Is this a known weakness on these cars? I haven't repaired mine yet, but how would I keep it from happening again? |
