17" 18" or 19" for track days

Looking for options / opinions.

I currently have the 19" OEM cracker wheels with RFT's. I want to buy a set of wheels and DOT tires for some track days. What is the preferred wheel size for readily available track type tires?

I will likely run a square set-up, meaning something like 9" wide wheels and 255 tire all-around. I might spend $1000 on wheels.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks

17" obviously. I recommend apex arc-8 17x9 et30. They're incredibly light (16-17lbs). For 255 front you'll some decent camber, around -2*.

As for tires, RE71R is the fastest 200tw tire there is. Under 200tw, NT01 are a good choice. Otherwise there are obviously your slicks (G1, A7, etc.)

Agreed. Smallest/lightest/widest you can fit would prob be the best choice of what's available. Apex should probably be your first stop.

Is there an advantage to running a square set up?

Not trying to hijack your thread! lol

The two biggest advantages are more neutral handling since it dials out under steer from a staggered setup, and the ability to rotate front to back.

If you are seriously tracking the car, the ability to rotate front to back is money.

Going to order my set of Apex ARC8's in 17x9 +30 squared too.
That or I will try the 9.5 squared ones.

I used to run 17x9 et30 ARC-8s when I tracked my E92 and I highly recommend them. Very light and you can fit 245s under with zero effort. Add some front camber and 255s square is a perfect fit.

Can you run a ARC-8s in 17x9.5 in the fronts? I'm interested in doing a squared set up down the road for canyon runs more so than track.
