***2011 Euro Philly Cheesesteak Run - Saturday, May 7, 2011***
Calendar: USA - Mid-Atlantic
Tonk
Lieutenant

Last year was the first "annual" Euro Cheesesteak Run and we had around 100 cars even though it was one of the hottest days of the summer. That's why for this year we planned it for May 7, 2011 so it will be a tad cooler. We're keeping it "Euro" related just to keep it from getting too large. If you have friends that have nice cars, we're certainly not excluding anyone, just try not to spam it around on every car forum on the internet. If you post this on any other forums, please post the link here so I can update the list.

2011 Euro Philly Cheesesteak Run
Saturday, May 7, 2011

Rain Date: Saturday, May 28, 2011

9:00 am – Meet in Rockville at Mid-Pike Plaza, Toys R Us parking lot
11802 Rockville Pike
North Bethesda, MD 20852

Leaving around 10:00 am. It takes approximately three hours to get to Philly from here.

11:15 am - Arrive at Maryland House rest stop to regroup and use the restrooms.

1:00 pm – arrive at Tony Luke's Cheesesteaks
39 East Oregon Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 19148

FACEBOOK EVENT

Costs - $11 in tolls from Rockville, $6 in tolls back. A Cheesesteak is around $7 plus drinks. They also have other sandwiches, fries, mozzerella sticks, etc.

If you live in the PA, NJ, DE, NY etc area and don't want to join the cruise (or want to set up your own), just meet at Tony Luke's around 1:00 pm.

Website: http://www.tonylukes.com.

Parking - the best place to park is next to the Tony Lukes restaurant, under I-95. There are at least a few hundred parking spaces so parking will not be an issue. There is also a small parking lot across the street for about 20 cars.

Eating - Across the street from the restaurant is the "steak shop" and that's where I recommend you get your food. There will be quite a line but it will be worth the wait. The restaurant has limited seating and will fill up quick with all the people that are coming.
RSVP'd Yes: 15 RSVP'd Maybe: 9 RSVP'd No: 5
RSVP sign-ups for this event are now closed.

How do we communicate during the caravan? Are we using 2-way radio?

I don't think we used them last year, because we had a meet up point in the middle which was the Maryland rest stop, and than we all met at Tony Lukes. Usually people would drive with little groups and others just zoomed ahead and we eventually met them at Tony Lukes.

Emailed him today. No confirmation as to if he's coming or not. I need to get a set of 2 way radios for myself.

I see. If 2-way were used, what would be the common channel/sub channel that we normally use?
(most MINI communities in our area use channel 7, sub channel 21, for instance)

2-ways are a good idea for those that have them, but as Tuner1984 said, we really didn't have any problem losing anyone because we have multiple meeting points.

My parts have not arrived yet, so my car will most likely not be ready! 335 needs mechanicals, and Audi needs summer wheels!!!! So frustrating. I am assuming all parts will arrive the same day at some point. I did just get tracking numbers for half the 335 parts, though.

I took pictures of all the cars before getting in line (meaning I was towards the end of the line) and the wait was probably about 30 minutes. But everyone was talking with each other so the time went fast. It was just like being at a normal car meet, except we were waiting for food
