iDrive Screen Cleaner?
I want to clean my screen because it looks like it has some smears. Any recommendations so I won't have streaks and can clean it nicely?

I don't have iDrive, but I would imagine any solution that is safe for big screen TVs should do the trick. You don't want anything harsh like a window cleaner, but the stuff you get to clean your laptop screen or LCD TV should work.

Most automotive window cleaners are PH balanced and are safe for your LCD screen. Only things to be careful for is to not spray directly to the screen and not to apply any pressure when wiping. You want to spray your MF towel, one spray is usually enough, and wipe down your screen. Then flip over to a dry side and buff clean.

Amonia free or not is ok, as long as it is acid free (PH balanced - 7). The amonia does remove wax so if you put any sort of wax or sealant on your screen (probably not and probably don't want to) then it will remove it.

Unless you touch your screen, a wipe with a good microfiber should remove all the dust. The surface should be clean again. Any interior QD works well as long as its safe for navigation screens and does not leave a shiny surface.

I guess the real question is do you have the plexiglas cover or a bare screen? I know the plexi was deleted at some point in time, but I'm not sure what year.

I asked about this because my buddy who has a 135i ruined his screen by cleaning it some way and he had to replace it (lots of $$). |

I would use a clean microfiber towel and 1Z einszett Cockpit we have been using it on nav screens for years now.

If it's the LCD surface itself (matte finish plastic) you can just use 50/50 IPA and a soft cloth. It will strip any fingerprints or detailing overspray and clean it right up. You should need to clean this often. Other products will leave behind coatings, oils or "protectants" and interfere with the matte coating of the display. It will be more reflective and show an unevenness even more easily. I usually find it's easiest to strip it and leave it clean. I also find cleaners like Stoner's Invisible Glass work OK and leave nothing behind on LCDs.
If you have a glossy plastic top coating, just use glass cleaner or plastic polish, not a product meant for vinyl. |

Please buy some 1Z Cockpit Cleaner and a very clean MF. It's the only product I use on LCD screens (including my TVs, laptop screens, etc.).

I detail full time and have many products that arent available off the shelf, but one thing I use when in a pinch is the turtle wax ceramic interior mist. works absolutely great and has a good trigger spray. here's the link https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-53...35178618&psc=1
