Newbie

New e90 (06 325i) member here. New to bmw as well. I'm in Florida and have been reading posts here via google for a few weeks. Very informative information. I'm not new to vehicle modding by far.

Car currently has 206k on the clock but runs like a top. I've been eying the N52 turbo set up I believe digidon did. (I don't care for your "buy a 335" comments)

N52 turbo truly isn't really worth the hassle. LOTS of work, might have to delete your AC, etc.

Better to put the ESS supercharger + AA headers + BPC tune.

Or LS, N62, etc. swap it.

Just cause you don't wanna hear it doesn't mean it's not the truth. It's almost always better to start with the turbo version of a car. Personally I can't think of any platforms where it's a cost effective to slap a turbo on the naturally aspirated version if there's a turbo variant available. If that were the case you would probably see a million turbo Impreza's running around but everybody knows you might as well get a WRX.

With that said, I have nothing against a full on swap. It's always suggested when doing a swap to have a donor vehicle so that you have everything necessary to get the job done. Certainly you could piece together a swap but there are a lot of little tiny nic nac items that need to be purchased. They may either add to the cost making in more expensive in the long run or it could just be a pain in the balls to source everything.

Also, I had no idea who you were talking about with the turbo N52 so I did a Google search and even Digimon or whatever his name is says not to do it.

"Not saying this is for everyone. If you look on my youtube video in the comments section I answer some questions about this kit and I pretty much say get a 335 or the ESS supercharger kit. Especially for daily drivers. WIth that said I'm really confident that if someone turboed this engine and kept it at around 8psi on pump fuel on a good tune and serviced it properly it would last the life of the vehicle."

Hate me if you want for saying what you told us not to say but it's honestly not worth all that effort.

I picked up a new 07 328 back in August of 07. It was a great car, with a great motor but I would not fuck with it and try to supercharge it as it was never meant to hold boost. OP should do what we all did
1. Get all fluids and basic maintenance done.
2. Do a 3 stage intake manifold swap
3. get a AA or Eurocharge tune
4. add headers (only thing I didnt do)
optional
get a BMW exhaust for the lovely sound and a Eurointake box (it uses a cone intake and makes filter replacement a 2min job)
My setup was everything above plus suspension, full xenon headlight swap, and 18in staggered wheels. Car ran like a dream.

OP, I have an '06 325i with a few miles on it and I've owned it since new. Take my advice, you have a nice car (I hope it is a manual), save any mod money for maintenance and repair. The best you can do with an N52 for reliable power upgrade is 260 HP with a 3IM and tune w/ headers. An 3.73 LSD swap will probably make it drive a little better and drop the acceleration time a tiny bit. But at 206K, there will be maintenance items to tend to.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
