Exclamation Red Oil Light Please Help

So today I was driving normal and when I got the supermarket parking and stop the car (prior turn it off) red oil light came on (the one with no waves in the bellow) then the light started going on and off.

If I drive it doesn't light up, apparently it only does it on idle but is intermitent, it doesn't light up every time and when it does it stays on for 5 seconds and turn off, the on again.

I looked at the engine bay and checked the oil cap to be tight, the only thing not normal that I saw was the oil pressure switch that was completely soaked in oil so I think it seal has fail.

No other problems, car runs fine, power is normal, no strange noises and oil level is showing normal.

Could it be the problem the oil pressure switch? I don't want to drive the car anymore until I sort out the issue, this specifiic light scares me.

Thanks

Sounds like a failed/failing oil pressure switch, since it's covered in oil. I'd replace that before driving further.

I'd second that... oil pressure switch. Super cheap and easy to replace, so might as well give it a shot.

I just wanted to update. Replaced the sensor, cleaned the connector that was soaked in oil and so far so good. No light in the dash anymore. Thanks.

I know about the oil level sensor but am not familiar with the oil pressure switch. Anyway, about a year ago I was at a friends house for dinner and on the short drive home the red oil light came on. It was late, I had a few adult beverages and nothing sounded out of the ordinary. I got up early the next morning, looked under the hood and underneath it then put it on ramps and looked all around looking for signs of oil leaks and found nothing. The oil level showed fine and the following oil change went as normal. I think that there had to have been a sensor malfunction or just an electronic error. As long as you check it out and nothing pops up in the near future, you should be fine. Does anyone else miss the dipstick?
