2006 E90 330i Radio Issues (without iDrive)

Hi All,

In my 06 330i, When I play a CD or play anything from AM/FM tuners, the music always skips. Not sure what is the problem. Also the pixels are faded out heavily. This radio does not have bluetooth audio streaming ability too . The car has only the option of bluetooth calls.

Is there a way to fix the audio skip issue ,correct the fading issue and add bluetooth audio streaming ability or its better to replace it with a new audio set?

Thanks.

You can replace your pre-LCI radio with a LCI one for around $50. Any BMW radio you replace will need 5 minutes of coding to be programmed to know what options your car has. LCI radio gets you HD radio, faster responding tuning and a screen that will not fade. BT audio is not built into any US BMW head units.

BT audio only was factory havailable in 2011 w/ i-drive and a combox. Combox retrofit is only for 2009 and up CIC i-drive. If you replace your radio, you can do a MULF2-HI retrofit and tune2air to get BT audio. This gets you seteering wheel controls to skip songs.. Or just add a BT adapter to your current aux.

Which year BMW's LCI radio will fit my 2006 BMW 330i Sedan? also i see there are different options like 2-DIN, professional model, business model. What is the default one? Mine has a AM-FM-1 CD Changer but not sure it is professional or business model..

You currently have the Pro radio. 2009 and up will be the newer one that does not have the pixel issue. At one time, I had a radio from a 2013 X1 in my 2006.

Thanks. When I ran a VIN decoder, the below options were shown for the sedan.

639 Complete Prep. Cellular Phone Usa/cdn
645 Radio Control Us
655 Satellite Radio
663 Radio Bmw Professional
677 Hifi System Professional
694 Preparation For Cd Changer .

So it also has a satellite radio?

Thanks. Once I purchase the radio from a parts dealer, to whom should I go to program and install it to my car? Will any mechanics able to do it or should it be anyone specialized?

Search your local facebook market place for BMW Coding. Most garages will not have the software to do this. Install is pretty easy. Remove the trim under the radio and remove 2 screws.

I bought a used radio(which was coded according to my VIN) and installed it today. But the audio sound is on and off. It is playing intermittently. What could be the issue here?

i did this before i did cic, dont really worry about the vin of the radio unless ur going to the dealer any time soon. get the radio, install it, and factory code with ncs so the radio will be coded to your cares vehicle order, and a plus code the kombi and you will have the new bmw gong
