Procede VIN Locking, New Units don't have VIN Lock.

Did you guys see this?
From vishnu's site: http://procedetuning.com/BMW/n54/tuner/tuner.html
Quote:
PROcede Engine Control System…....$745
If you want it all, right now, this is the PROcede to get. Offering full custom tune-ability and an unparalleled feature set, the Procede is the most advanced and most functional engine control system for your n54 powered BMW. And now available with no VIN locking.
I'm happy that the Vishnu camp decided to go the unlocked route like their competitors Cobb and JB. This will make the Procede a much better investment knowing that it can be moved car to car and resold when the time comes.

Now that the REV 3 new units are being sold without VIN locking will those who have REV 3s that they bought be given free upgrades to the unlocked version? How about people who upgraded from Rev 2 hardware? Or those who already had to pay for VIN Unlock?

All new orders will be shipped without the vin locking feature active (effective 1/1/13). Once the new firmware is released, the vin locking feature will be eliminated as well for current users

What was the point of vin locking?

From what I remembered, weren't you guys considering in using the unit to flash cars (and therefore kept the vin lock)?

vin lock is to make money when people decide to buy it used, Vishnu still gets money for unlock. basically free money.

not trying to bash btw, business is business. Now that platform is mature and no major player has VIN lock (BMS, COBB) they removed the feature.

This... i am wondering why they havent written anything yet for the Cobb AP... Second, please rebuild your software's gui/interface to something more modern and user friendly. Friendly advice but good advice.

Just wondering what you would change about the GUI to make it more user friendly. Not being a dick, just genuinely am curious.

I believe the PROcede flash modifies tables not accessible via ATR.

Based on pricing of the flash($100) i would assume Shiv is using WinOLS as his software. It offers tables that aren't yet available in ATR, however those tables are available in ATP.

Interesting. I always thought they were the same thing. Thanks for the heads up.
