Solved: How to add new values to existing daten files?
I'm working on coding the trailer module on my E70 and have run into an issue. There are a couple of ECUs that I need to update with values that aren't currently present in them, and the instructions I've found just say "these values need to be added" or something similar, but I don't know how.
My usual method is to connect to the car with NCSExpert using the Revtors profile, select the module in question, run the CODIERDATEN_LESEN job on it to dump the current values into the FSW_PSW.TRC. I then go into NCSDummy, select my chasis, load up the trace file, filter modules to match the trace file and then edit the values in NCSDummy before exporting them into FSW_PSW.MAN. When that's done, I run the SG_CODIEREN function in NCSExpert again and it processes the file for me. That works as long as I'm modifying existing values in the file, but I don't know how to add new ones... I don't see any option for that in NCSDummy, don't know how to do it in NCSExpert, and when I tried to edit a copy of the relevant daten file (for example, AHM_E70.C11 from the daten directory of NCSExpert) in notepad it was only partially understandable, likely due to the encoding method. Can anyone explain how to add new values to existing daten files, or point me towards a resource that covers it? Thanks! EDIT/UPDATE: so, I think I figured it out... the daten files aren't directly editable, but I can edit the FSW_PSW.TRC file in notepad, add the values to that manually, then follow the rest of my process as usual by editing the file with those new values in NCSDummy.
