I just got an email from PCA SCH that they'll be having a 3-day advanced/solo-only DE on Thunderbolt - a lot of track time. Problem is that it's on 8/24-26, and a lot of you guys are already registered for the CCA event for those days....

I think maybe one or two of us would be eligible for this PCA event. I run the CCA event every year since NJMP has opened. It's kind of a tradition for me, plus it'll be much better this year since we'll have so many of us at the event.

I may be going for my SCCA license in the fall and run the 4 hour sprint race at Watkins Glen in October.

Very nice! Maybe you'll find reason to turn a few races in NorCal down the road.

Nice. I was there 2 years ago, missed last year and sadly will miss this year too. It's a great event, very different level than your typical DE. Love the line-up at the hot pits too.

BTW, I'm going the NASA route, working on my TT paperwork now and trying to shed some points to be (slightly) competitive.

You're right.. what am I thinking; I'm just a newbie and I'll be run over left and right, that is, if I even get in.

I shall join you guys on the big event then!

Going to Pocono raceway with NASA next weekend, since they're swearing the infield transition bump has been eliminated. Doing the Saturday/clockwise sessions only and skipping Sunday/counter-clockwise, continuous left turns bother me somehow

Peter, please mark me down for 28-29 SP - NJ CCA. I got my tint approved and just registered.
Looking forward to trying a new track.

I'll see ya there. For what it's worth, I think the Holiday Inn @ Winchester is the best motel, and only $108/nt. That's where I'll be staying.

Bored and itching to get back on track so was browsing through motorsportreg, and found an interesting event.

Poconos - North Course, 1 day "Twilight" event on 9/8. Starts at 4pm, ends at midnight so they'll have the lights on. Always avoided Poconos but given they supposedly repaved the pavement, it shouldn't be too bad. Only $195, less than 2hrs away from most, and no early morning drive means no hotel required (all proceeds go to charity too!)

Just came back from Pocono, the new paved surface is awesome, enjoy it while it lasts. Hitting the limiter twice on every lap. Just don't cross the new yellow line (banked vs level) as it upsets the car. The infield transition is better than last year's gap but still bumpy.

I'll check out the twilight event, I'm in as long as there's some lighting, otherwise it'll be one scary ride. Pocono is not a typical road course, it's 90% banked straights with just a small infield, speeds are crazy fast.

I have all my points with Hampton - got into the Winchester one at $113 with AAA. Thanks for the recommendation though.
