RE050A's after a little over 18K

Glad my new rims/tires came in, my rear RF's have seen better days. Weird that they have worn so fast in comparo to the fronts, I always check PSI on a regular schedule.

wow, those RFTs suck at handling and treadwear... Almost goes against the rule of tires Greater treadwear = not as good handling/ Performance = not so good treadwear

Danny...

Just curious... what are your driving habits?

I would expect to get atleast 20k out of those tires. Even though that is pathetic for treadlife, but with the soft compound, I guess Im not that surprised...

Well... then I am mildly dissapointed in the treadlife that you got. Yes, I realize the treadwear is surprisingly low. But PS2's (with a similar tread rating) are so much better tires.

I would rather have a little ligher rating in TW if that would be all I would get out of that set. There are people who can probably get 25k out of those tires... But they drive like grandma's....

you guys gotta remember that tread wear rating is not standardized for the tire industry and differentiates from manufacturer to manufacturer. a comparison of thread wear ratings only works if the tires to be compared are made by the same manufacturer.

for example, you can't compare the thread wear rating of a bridgestone tire to the thread wear rating of a michelin tire.

--------

that sucks danny! at least you finally got your volks! i'm thinking i can get 20k out of my stock rft's. guess we'll see!

Very true, forgot to add that when I was at the 140.

I think I could get another 18K out of the fronts easy...

Really? I thought that was whole point of the rating system. I also thought that the rating were determined by comparing the tread life of a tire against a standardized tire provided by the DOT.

"Treadwear
The UTQG tread wear rating is designed to help consumers compare the tread life of a tire. The tread wear rating compares a tire's tread life with a reference tire. The reference tire provided by the U.S. government has a rating of 100. This rating is considered the low end of the tread wear scale. A test score of 400 is a relatively high tread wear rating and indicates the tread should last four times as long as the reference tire (which has a score of 100). A test score of 200, on the other hand, suggests that the tire will last twice as long as the reference tire (with the 100 score), but half as long as long as the tire with the 400 score. Note - The ratings do not guarantee tread life. Tire and vehicle maintenance, driving habits, climate condition and road condition all affect tread wear."

I'm going to hang on to them, worth more to me than the $1500 or so they would sell for.

No wonder Ferrari struggled with the 2006 F1 championship. Same tires, same symptoms.

Hello

The 2 tires with less grip, that from the rear axle, but i have the same tire and same prob with them on the front.

I´m asking because after 35.000km i have the same prob!!! And checked the PSI regular.

I have check the alignment and everything "seems" to came from factory ok.

Can it be because a defect hardware, like "steering arms"??? Or anything else??

Best
