Does what you say apply to the 335i turbos as well? Cos I have to admit I haven't been around turbos enough to know, which is partially why I said "yes" the first time, but nonetheless I absolutely love the sound of the engine when I gun it Now whether that sound I'm actually hearing is partially from the turbos being "spun up" ? I'm not sure in the 335i's case

I'll have to check out the Porsche site

I have no idea what a 335i sounds like, never drove one since I knew I wouldn't get one and didn't want to know what I'd be missing. I was just commenting that tastefully done turbos (my example was the 911 Turbo) sound wonderful and totally classy. None of that whiny/BOV crap.

Just wait until you get the PROceed upgade you guys. The turbo spool, blow-off (air recirculation), etc is much more pronounced, Sounds much better, but not "ghetto" or "ricer". In fact, the only time you can hear it is when you are driving aggressively. But holy ****, when you punch it, you hear it and feel it.

on this topic, longboarder (or anyone else who has procede installed), does procede introduce any turbo lag into the 335i's performance? or exacerbate any turbo whorl, whoosh or whistle?

I would say the "lag", or lack there of, is the same, if not better with the Procede installed. You would have to pay very close attention to notice the difference. Again, it is very slight and if you have an auto and are driving in DS mode, you will never feel any lag as it keeps the rpm's above that 1600-1800 mark. When you hit the gas, it just pulls and pulls.

It actually takes a little adjusting when you first get the Procede installed. I was driving on the freeway the other day and the lane I was in virtually stopped. I did a semi-aggressive lane change while giving it some gas and I almost sh*t myself when I had to hit the breaks hard. The damn thing just lurches forward... My girl was yelling at me...

The sound of the turbo's is more pronounced but like longboarder said, not ricey sounding in the slightest. Just yesterday I was in a parking structure and had the windows down, killed the music and damn... It sounds good. Very good. And I'm not a fan of the BOV's, or loud obnoxious cars but this thing just sings power.

I think the Procede is a must for 335er’s

I dont think 90% of the people commenting on turbos and Bov's here know what they are talking about! Since when did turbos and bovs become a Japanese(rice)only thing? If i recall some of the first turbo cars for sale to the public were the Chevrolet Corvair Monza and the Oldsmobile Jetfire,1962/63, those were American by the way, and one of the first turbo F1 cars was the Lotus 97T pushing over 900hp. Just cause BMW made them quiet doesnt mean that people that like turbocharged cars wont want to hear them, you sound like a bunch of old people saying oh my god i dont want to hear a whinning noise... Well you should not have gotten a turbocharged car! I didnt get the 335 just because its a BMW, i got it because of the platform that BMW put out and i will make it as loud and fast as possible!

I have to agree with an earlier poster.... if you are driving hard then ease of the gas to say take a turn, or what have you...you will hear the Turbo's calming down.... I once had a VW Jetta 1.8T and the turbo in that thing sounded like a little kids whistle..... zzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzSSSSSSSSSSSS

Old thread, but what the heck, I am answering. YES, you can hear the turbos, windows up, radio off, just coming from a dead stop, easy on the pedal you hear a howl, like a swooooshhhh whistling wind very subtle, then it goes away. It does not bother me actually sounds sweet and like others on this post if you push the pedal then you will hear the monsters unleash with a classic turbo whine but very subtle and silenced by the exhaust growl, which is silenced by the magnificent howl from the exhaust.

By the way, have any of you heard or driven a 335 Sedan ?, The exhaust does not sound as the Coupe, is more muffled so to speak.
