Oil Pan + Other Maintenance
I plan on doing my oil pan gasket. While I'm in there with the subframe dropped I plan on doing the rod bearings, motor mounts and WP/thermo. How's my cart look? Am I missing anything that might be easy to do while I'm in there?

Lemforder mounts?
Just might suggest going with Lemforder mounts, I think they are the ones that actually make the "BMW" ones. Would save a bunch of $$$
Maybe new trans mounts also? |

Much appreciated my friend. I switched the mounts for the lemforder brand. I didn’t think about the transmission mount. I’ll check into it!

Is it an Xdrive?? There are lots of things that can be serviced while doing the oil pan. Hows all the front end parts?
Get a new braided ground strap ( from left engine mount to frame) Personally I would get everything from FCP Euro...not a fan of ECS. |

Yep It's an x drive. I feel the exact opposite, I loathe FCP.

You'll need the o-rings for the axles, replace the axle seals on the front diff, new axle nuts, diff fluid, the single aluminum bolt for the pan thats not included in the bag of bolts.
Also should do the transfer case fluid, and might as well do transmission fluid and filter Also why waste $270 on BMW motor mounts when there are lots of mounts for half the price? |

Yeah, Xdrive owner here. Don't get Corteco Differential Seals/Orings.
Your list is missing those Differential Seals (you have orings, good). A 2 inch PCV pipe and a block of wood will push those seals in flush with the diff. Axle nuts, control arm/tierod single use self locking nuts. Sway bar bushings would be nice to have too. Throw in anything cheap so you get the most out of your alignment. I'd also recommend getting some tools for the axles to make quick work of removing and installing the axles. It can be difficult to pull in the axle and smacking the knuckle with a hammer can transfer bad forces to the differential. Also, you may have problems reusing some bolts depending on corrosion (i.e. subframe bolts/steering rack bolts). Hopefully it isn't too bad. 6x Reinforcement plate bolts are torque to yield, up to you to replace. I don't think anyone other than me has replaced these. |
