Appreciate some help. Are the E92/93 sports suspension compatible with the E90s (w/ sports suspension)? Assume both are RWD. Does MT vs AT actually matter?

Ok I think I found some answers. Springs vary between the models but struts are the same. RWD or AWD matters. MT vs AT matter for springs (due to weight). Is that right?

I doubt E90/E92 and E93 are the same. Convertible weighs a lot more, and if the KW coilovers are anything to go by, they have the same shocks across all 3, but different springs. The E91 and E93 are the same coilovers.

Converting regular to sport suspension

Hi, my struts went on the front end of my e90 328i 2009. I'm pretty sure it is a non-sport model.

Can I replace the non-sport struts 31316796155 with sport struts 31316796159 ? or do I also need to replace the springs, control arms etc? will it make my ride any stiffer/lower just swapping out the struts?

I like the idea of it riding a bit stiffer/lower, but I don't want to go past the sport package since I drive in snow half of the year.

Thanks!

Help......

I need some solid advice on parts I ultimately need to buy to replace front struts on my 09 328xi. I do not need to upgrade to any type of sports suspension, or concerned about lowering the vehicle. I am a new owner and this is my everyday work car I do alot of highway driving. The fronts are definitely shot and I have done to much reading to the point where I am thoroughly confused. i love the car so much already, found it with 117k miles and its solid in every other way for now, just want to bring the ride back to factory spec. any advice would be so appreciated......

Only do the sports if you're doing them on all 4 corners.

So, if you're bringing it back to factory spec, why not buy OE replacements?

Ok, but can I put on sport struts without also doing the springs, arms etc?

Hi

Recently got the bad news that my car's front left shock is leaking as it requires replacement. Been suggested to get it replaced in pair which I am happy to do. Really confused about how to ensure that the one my mechanic is going to get is the one which keeps the car ride and height the same as the original.

I have a 2011 e90 320d Msport 4 dr sedan. My mechanic has suggested me to get the Bilstein fitted. Contacted BMW and they gave me a quote for Sachs which is exorbitantly higher than my mechanic.

Can anyone suggest how to ensure if I am getting the right pair?

realoem.com will list every oem part for your car. You can put in your serial number (last 7 digits of your vin) and search by your specific vin.

For this particular part# you would search "front shock absorber" or something of that nature. Based off the information you have me I searched the model and found this part# 31316786001

I'd double check it though. Otherwise if you want something close to stock msport height (maybe a tad lower and a little bit stiffer if that works for you) then Bilstein B6s will probably work just fine.

Thanks for your reply.

I have done the search and this is the part list that I came up with: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=31_0694

My mechanic has ordered Bilstein with part number: 22-136572 for the front left. A quick google search tells me that it is a BILSTEIN - B4 OE Replacement?

What is the difference between a B6 and a B4?

Definitely replace shocks in pairs, and if you can help it the mounting hardware too. I believe B4s are an oe replacement for non sport suspensions and B6 are for sport suspension. Don't quote me on that, I'd research here in the forums too. There's many threads comparing the two as well as B8s.

Upon researching further found a thread with a similar scenario as me: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...ight=22-136572

The OP originally decided to go with standard B4 but upon advise from parts retailer when with: 22-136602 and 22-136619 for front shocks with original Msport oem springs.

I believe I need the same B4s and not the standard B4

I'd replace your mounts.

OEM front strut mounts (Sachs)
OEM rear lower shock mounts (Lemforder)
Upgraded rear top mounts (Dinan, Monroe, etc)

When I upgraded to Bilstein B8 w/ Eibach Pros for my 330xi I ordered all new mounting hardware. Everything except the mounts were in great shape. Ended up returning everything except the mounts themselves

bmw i8 suspension

For the i8, is the suspension adjustable? According to the dealership when I bought the car they said no and its a fixed rate suspension.

Great info!

With this and a good search, I am still having trouble deciding which spring/strut combo would be best for me, maybe someone can help me out?

Vehicle: 2011 335i Sedan, M Sport, Manual, RWD

What I am looking for:
- 1" Drop
- Would like to retain as much driving comfort as possible (NY roads are terrible)
- Better Handling

Any input would be appreciated!

19" Rims Bilstein B8 kit? E92

This may have been answered and I may be blind so if I am please point out the post or reply, if it is accessible. I have a pair of Apex racing 19" rims on my 07 E92. Then from the previous owner I have the records of him upgrading the components of the car to the sport/ M suspension components.

Therefore my question is has anyone bought the B8 kit with the Eibach lowering springs for an E92 with M suspension mod? If so, do you have any scraping or rubbing issues?

I know tire size is a big issue as well so please let me know your tire size as well. Right now I've got 235/35s front and 275/30s in the rear. Apex rims are the recommended staggered setup of 19x8.5" and 19x9.5" respectively.
