New product: Rogue Engineering Front Tension Rod/Arm Upgraded Bushing
Get in Control!
Are you looking for more control over the front end of your E82 1M/E9X M3/1 and 3-series with retrofitted M3 arms? We've got the solution for you! While the stock front tension arm bushings are designed to offer a compliant ride while trying to control the front, it cannot overcome age, added power, or increase use (like at the track). This front bushing takes a large share of the suspension load under braking and hard cornering. Our solution is designed to to outlast and outperform the factory bushing in many ways. Rogue Engineering's Tension Arm Bushings (TABs) is an elegant, engineered solution to this issue. Rogue Engineering's TABs are designed allow the thrust arm to move without this spring load, but instead, allowing movement though its range without this specific resistance. By allowing the center bolt sleeve to pivot instead of our custom urethane-silicone bushings smoothly, there is no unnecessary wear and tear. Our exclusive, made in USA, urethane bushing has all the same properties as the other bushings Rogue Engineering produces. A special silicone formula is injected into each and every bushing mold during the casting process to ensure a lubricious film impregnated at all times (even without grease!). Another Urethane Bushing? Some will try to compare the Rogue Engineering Thrust Arm Bushings to a currently available urethane replacements. There is a big difference! Instead of using urethane to control the entire area of deflection, we've engineered an aluminum housing to reduce the ID of the hole of the thrust arm bushing. By doing this, we can fine tune the urethane compound so that we can get performance without unwanted NVH. In order to get our level of deflection control, other companies would have to make their entire bushing so incredibly hard that their product would either vibrate, squeak or both! Less unwanted bushing deflection means more control! Take control of your BMW! These bushings are available in our STREET compound (black) or TRACK compound (blue). This product fits the following vehicles: E9X M3, including Coupe, Sedan and Convertible E9X 3-series with E9X M3 front tension arm retrofitted E82 1 M Coupe E8x 1-series with E9x M3 tension arm retrofitted More details here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=888312 Last edited by HP Autosport; 09-19-2013 at 01:48 PM.. |

There are similar kits out there; Dinan has one, and TC Kline.
VAC did the TCK front kit for me which is solid aluminum: http://www.tcklineracing.com/webdocs...Details880.cfm It looks like the Rogue kit is more geared towards the street since it uses urethane. That said, I have noticed no increase/change in NVH with the TCK kit. Practically speaking an upgrade like this will eliminate the tendency of our car's front end to toe-out under heavy braking, which is caused by deflection. Even the harder bushings on the M3 components will deflect under that load. A tell is the front end feeling slightly nervous - you'll find yourself doing slight back and forth corrections with the steering wheel in the braking zone. This upgrade mitigates that... the car will just brake straight. Sounds like the Rogue will still allow a little deflection but for $239, quite forgivable (TCK is $500). Either way, I would only consider this for a car that sees considerable track use.

Here is a custom version(using a BMW joint) we have been running on the 1M. There is a slight bit more NVH vs the OEM bushing.
The RE kit can also be had in the track compound for even less deflection, but because of the increase in NVH it's not recommended for street use. This RE kit is definite easier on the wallet and a great upgrade for anyone already running the 1M/M3 front tension arms. |

Looks pretty good! Do these fit the M3 tension rods?

Mine are on the way, I am guessing these press in like a differential bushing?

NVH increase is minimum if any. Responsiveness is greatly improved!
This is a great alternative to the bearing style, which isn't as street friendly. |

Man I can't wait.....you're driving me crazy with these pics! This pic I think answered my other question...when you press the bushing in it bottoms out on the collar....is there a certain direction it should be pressed in I.E collar toward front of car or collar toward rear of car? They look easy to press in by there design

The more I drive my 1M with these the more I like the increase in responsiveness. The road feed back is also greatly improved. The vehicle is also a lot more stable under heavy braking as toe changes are minimized. |

sounds like a good time to upgrade for me. The dealer just told me that I need new front thrust arms. I am assuming that they are talking about the front lower control arm. Am I correct. There is one in the front that goes at an angle from a point on the carrier in front of the front wheel to the hub and one that goes straight from the carrier to the hub.

This will also be a good time to upgrade to the RE front tension rod bushings for maximum steering response and better stability under heavy braking. |
