Misfires-What makes a BMW a BMW

First off,
I would like to apologize for sacrificing a thread to more misfire stuff but I don't like resurrecting ancient threads.
My 335i has what sounds like a misfire on cold starts at idle that. Clears up after 40 seconds, my idle rpm don't fluctuate and I can hardly feel it inside the car. And I gave absolutely no fault codes.
So the question is is this normal, and what causes this.
I suppose it has something to do with DI and the fact I take a lot of short runs.
Do any of you experience the same issue?
I also took it into the dealer and they said it's pretty normal

Mine does the same I'm thinking it's my injectors but so far haven't been able to prove it to myself doing the normal tests so I don't want to shell out 1k+ on a hunch.

I'm in the same boat, a pack of 6 is 1500 on fcp euro and I ding even have any codes. I also change oil every 2.5k miles so fuel can't thin my oil too much

FCP Euro does have the OE ones for 1200 now. That is the route I went.

Sounds like leaky injectors. Pull the plugs, they likely are fouled with fuel.

Also, check the index number (the last number) on the injectors. 12 is the best revision. Anything under 10 is playing with fire. 9 and 7 are the worst offenders.

What index are your injectors? It's only a matter of time for anything under revision 10.

If it clears up after 40 seconds - IMO it is not an injector.

If it really bothers you try 2 things - walnut blast the valves.
Get some redline motor oil - my 335i was wayyyyy smoother on this oil. In every way.

Am I really asking for trouble if i put it off for a bit given i change oil every 2 or so months and my misfires never code?

You could try running two back to back tanks of 93 octane coupled with one bottle of 20 gallon, Techtron in each tank. If that doesn't clear it up, I agree with the above posters, look at the plugs first, see what index you are running and check to make sure the car is coded correctly. If they have 100,000 miles or more, maybe you need to change them out.

Coils? How old are they. 100k or more, change them out. If tuned, 50k or more change them out.

I started a thread back in June. BAP has VDO, index 12 for $784. For another & $200.00, you can get a lifetime warranty.

May I ask how long do you warm up the car for everyday, before actually driving it out ?
is it a 30 second and drive away, or let idle for 5 minutes and drive away ?

Mostly just 30 seconds then drive very gently

I have owned my 2010 E92 335i since I bought it new. Keep it well maintained by a trusted indy BMW mechanic and I have not had any issues with misfirings even with the recent mods (K&N filter swap, Cobb tune stage 2, BMW PE) I added back in 2016.

I have same issue, but i also have index 9 injectors lame bmw, no idea how they can have 12 revisions of a single part and not get it right for the first 10 revisions its pathetic.
Anyways, i found that cold start delete from my MHD tune fixes this. I'm assuming when its higher rpms during cold start injectors are feeding additional fuel and possible extra leakage due to the higher rpms which cause the rough idle.

However, with cold start reduction its not requested to feed more fuel so none of that rough idle.

My car actually runs way smoother too during normal conditions as rpms are not fluctuating nearly as much, they stay pinned closed to 600

What oil were you using before the Redline?
