N54 is already reinforced compared to the standard I6.

I'm sure there is some headroom, maybe more than the older M3.

A 'built' motor usually means light weight pistons that don't break from sudden changes in inertia.

You can do this with the N54, However, to reinforce the open aluminum deck you would have to machine fillers that would join the cylinders together.

Which people do... but I doubt that stage would be affordable for most people.

e46 m3 has similar power to n54, so pistons/conrods will be similar strength, right? (more tq, less hp)

A built motor involves improved pistons/conrods before deck reinforcement - so internals-wise you'll first be limited by pistons/conrods.

Stock for Sock, the durability of both engines should be similar if they were designed for similar output.
Depending on the pistons/conrods, the N54 could actually have more headroom than stock e46 m3 has - and I'm not saying it *does*, I'm saying it *may*.

No one is saying that the closed deck iron block e46 m3 has less to work with *after being 'built'* than the n54...

Either way guys, HPF Will get as much Safe HP out of the stack Motor as they can with Stage 2, Then Build the motor to hold WAY more power than they will give it.... The HPF M3's custom internals CAN hold over 1,500 HP but only give it 900-1,000 with Stage 3 and 4. We can expect the same concept with the 335i. it will be daily Drive able and it WILL be durable for a long time after.

i think stage 2 is for me. No building or anything. If i can get 550 hp-ish with a big turbo that holds the power till redline so i can F**k with the big boys like Vipers, and Vettes then im happy.

This is awesome. I hope they sell the improved fuel pump separately (and if they make a standalone ECU...that as well).
