Damn! Thanks for letting me know though guys!

What about if i got an auto headlight switch, then use the auto position as off? Or would it need the light sensor as well?

If you buy switch with auto and put it to your car without having light sensor it will work just like a lowbeam, so it will turn on welcome lights and after you start the car low beams will pop up.

If i understood you well , you dont have that switch right? Or you just turn it off via ncs ?

I don't have the auto switch but they're cheaply and easily available on ebay. But the light/rain sensors are not so easy to find.

Any ideas what else i'd need to retrofit auto headlights/wipers? Is there a control module or wiring needed? I can't find anything about it.

For light/rain sensor you need frond windshield with sensors, new mirror, new module with automatic wipers plus wiring plus coding, total cost about 500-700 pounds , not worth the money if you ask me

Cheers

What do you use to code

I'm a total rookie but learning. How do you code...what equipment is required?

Read this thread! http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=480261

Two errors in it though: 1. ignore what they say about buying the more expensive cable, the £25 ($30-$40) ebay one is fine (clear plug & cable) i've done loads of coding with it without a single problem. 2. When the guide says go to cas then cas for the digital speedo, it's actually cas then kombi. you'll understand by the time you get to that part!

*Edit*
Oh, i've just realised you've got a 2011, so the cable you need is slighty different, one without the k line like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-USB-OBD-...e86a42&vxp=mtr

Or just buy the normal one and de solder pin 8! Like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-INPA-K-C...a5eefa&vxp=mtr

Fyi on the Welcome lights...

wl_KZL is the rear license plate light
wl_sl_2 (I think) is the tail light
wl_NSL is the rear fog lights
wl_NSW is the front fog lights

The correct values for all of these are nicht_aktiv, soft_einschalten, hart_einschalten

I have Welcome lights on my car (which only work when the headlight switch is left in Auto) And I coded everything off, except, soft_einschalten front and rear fogs. Looks awesome!

somewhere i read that this doesn't work - so before i code it to try, thought i'd ask here...

I use the b!immersoftware cable with NCS Expert and BMW coding tool.

You can do welcome lights with fogs and the arm for seatbelt.
