That is definitely a bit worrying!
Thats 2 people on here now that seem to have experienced dodgy oil level sensors.

It is one sensor that needs to work and give accurate results.

There have been loads of posts in the main threads on dodgy oil sensors. I think in the end it was put down to condensation forming within the engine due to the differences in environmental conditions between the factory and when the engine starts to get used.

There was a scary post that gave some detials of the 'cure'. From memory it involved running the car at somthing like 4k revs for 18minutes to vapourise any condensation and then vent it through the filler cap.

edit: found the post

Which can? It says Longlife 03 or Longlife 04 I believe which I understand relates to LL03 and LL04 respectively.

Managed to buy a 4-Litre jar of Edge TD 0W30 for £23.50 including carriage on ebay. Should provide top-ups for both cars for the near future hopefully.

My dealer is 'kind' enough to place an oil top up pack in my car prior to delivery. the oil bottle is nicely packaged in a 'leatherette pouch' with dipstick and hand wipes. Isn't that generous ??? At least I thought so until I saw the £15 addition on my invoice ! (That was for my previous 320d and I expect the same for the 335d)

I have yet to receive it. It was a snipe purchase so therefore a one-off.
It is supposed to be sealed so will have to wait and see.
