beauforty & peppernick's laps of the Nurburgring

Firstly, thanks to Matt (mjh93sa) for converting the camcorder tape to a fantastic DVD of colourful menu's, laps, bonus material and dance music!

Thanks also to GeeHun who filmed my lap (he's over on EvoT) - good camera work!

Here's my lap of the Nordscheilfe in my E90 330i, turn up the sound and enjoy!

Here's peppernick's lap (a bit quicker might I add!) in his awesome Z4M Roadster, turn up the sound and enjoy the engine and tyre screeching!

Roll on the next Ring trip in 2008! :rocks:

Not a problem Paul, gald you liked it!

The "bonus" footage is tame by comparison, but then I needed to look after it having just done the deal for the E91.

Yep .. mine makes a similar noise

Superb lap paul, great to watch ...

You were clearly going for it given the traffic you passed.

What happened near the end when your passenger (Peppernick?) said:

"woah, woah woah .. shit that was close"

My passenger was GeeHun. Nick doesn't do passenger rides!

You have to keep an eye on your mirrors as you must give way to faster traffic coming up behind you. I was negotiating quite a few consecutive bends and didn't spot the BM until he was next to me and I was turning in towards the apex!! Once I saw him, I had to abandon the racing line and keep to the right. It was too close for comfort though and gave Gee quite a shock as it was his side!!

I really enjoyed teasing the red M3 though, that was really good fun!!

Thumbs up

Very nice Paul!

Good to see you handling the 'twin' well & she gave you back as much in return!

Beautiful engine sound & something only the 'petrol boys' will be able to relish!

All the best.

So what's the story with going to the ring, you get your car insured for a track and pay the entrance fee and you are in?

Really good videos! Your 330i sounds fantastic Paul.

I wondered what the etiquette was for overtaking... as everyone seemed to just scatter when you were approaching!

Insurance is not included and you are unlikely to get insured for the Ring.

You rock up, buy a ticket (1 lap, 4 laps, 8 laps, 16 laps etc), queue up to the barrier (seen in my videos) and off you go!!

You have to exit the circuit after every lap and rejoin at the barriers for a second lap. You keep using your same ticket until no laps left. The tickets are valid until 31 Dec so if you have laps left you can come back again or sell on ebay.

Join us next year, you will love it!

You don't need to take your car on if you don't want to. Hire a car at the circuit, have a professional passenger lap (with Sabine) or a passenger lap in one of our cars...

The Ring is a public toll road governed by German road laws. There is no speed limit so the only road law that seems to apply is that if a faster car is coming up behind you, you must give way, indicate and keep right until the faster car has passed.

If you get rear ended, it is YOUR fault... I'm serious.

Also, people think taking your car on the Ring is a race. its NOT. No one is "racing" even though it may look like it! You can drive as fast or as slow as you like. You drive within your limits. You simply keep an eye on your mirrors, give way to faster cars and you will be fine.

I saw all sorts on the ring, from Supercars, to VW polo's, old bangers that can't go faster than 60mph, Zafira's with the grandparents in the back and a coach full of pensioners enjoying the experience!! The coach took about 30 mins to do a lap and kept right all the way round!!
