Overheating issues
Hi all,
Today my e90 n51 LCI decided to give me a high temp indicator and severely limit my speed while going down the interstate. I pulled over and inspected the engine bay. The radiator and the fan were definitely working. It was blowing a respectable amount of cold air, enough so that when i tried to turn on the heat in the cabin to help expel some heat it only blew cold air. My coolant was low but there was still some in there. I topped it off, reset the computer and started to drive again. Instantly the fan kicked on full force. The engine bay didnt appear to be very hot. The cap caps came off with a little pressure but no immense heat. Just trying to get an idea of what could be the cause of this as i have not really run into heat issues with cars before. Any info would be of help. |

Waterpump. No heat in the cabin is a big clue. The engine is hot, but no hot coolant is circulating. You also said no heat in the radiator, so again hot coolant is not getting circulated.
